Ford Endeavour Titanium 4x2 variant discontinued

Ford has discontinued the base variant of the Endeavour. The SUV is no longer available in Titanium 4x2 trim and therefore, the range now starts with the Titanium+ 4x2 variant which costs Rs. 33.80 lakh (ex-showroom).

The Titanium 4x2 cost almost Rs. 4 lakh less than the Titanium+ trim. However, it also missed out on some features like ambient lighting, panoramic sunroof, 8-way electrically adjustable passenger seat, folding third-row seat and one-touch up / down power windows.

There are quite a few safety features that this variant didn't get. That includes semi-auto parallel park assist, driver knee airbag, front parking sensors and electronic IRVM.

Back in December 2020, Ford had deleted 2 front speakers and the steel scuff plates from the Titanium 4x2 variant. The Titanium+ and Sport trims also lose the Aux Heater.

The Endeavour comes with a 2.0-litre diesel engine that produces 168 BHP and 420 Nm. A 10-speed automatic transmission is available as standard across all variants, while all-wheel drive is offered in both Titanium+ and Sport trims.

This variant was the least popular and was only meant for showing the lower sticker price amongst competitors, the range now makes a lot more sense with the Titanium+ and Sport.

The lower price variant made sense to get customers into the showroom. It is all about perspective. Previously, this lower variant pulled a few of those who found the fortuner expensive towards checking out the Endeavour. Now with Toyota going ballistic with the price Ford doesn't need to even try to look affordable. So I feel this is atleast partly the Toyota effect.

The diesel manual trims of the Fortuner are now cheaper than the Endeavour’s, Fortuner’s AT variants still command a premium.

This was expected, mainly due to poor sales.

In 2016, when the Endeavour was launched, there was a 2.2 4x2 Trend, which was not so popular and later after one year they discontinued it. Same thing happened here.

The equation is quite simple. People going in the 40 lakh category price range would not mind to pay a few more lakhs and get the top model. That's exactly what happened.

The 4x2 model was not so popular right from the start and then Covid ruined the sales further.

Good move by Ford to axe Titanium 4x2 as it's not much of a stretch to go for a 4x4 if one is considering Titanium variant. Feature wise too everything was identical except for 4x4. Rather, they can launch Trend Variant with 4x2 and 4x4 again to boost sales and it'll undercut the competition and will keep turned showroom price under 30L and on orad will vary by 5-6 lakh rupees. That will bring in more sales to Ford

Wrong move FORD, this was a very VFM model for someone in the 30-35L price point, this variant still had all the must have features like decent music system, AT, reverse parking sensors, 6 airbags and all other safety features and it missed out on wish list like panoramic sunroof, front parking sensors, one touch up/down windows for all doors, auto dim IRVM, soft touch dashboard, etc.,

Thankfully this model had 6 airbags.

When Ford launched the Endeavour in 2016, the 2.2L 4x2 MT Trend and the 3.2L 4x4 AT Trend had only two airbags (in front). Yes you got it right, only two airbags.
Imagine a 30 lakh plus SUV with only two airbags. That was also a mistake done by Ford in 2016. By Jan. 2018 these models were stopped due to poor sales.
