Re: Cars24 moves used car buying entirely online (including home delivery & returns)

I too had bitter experience with CARS 24. It was in Nov. 2018, I approached them to sell my Aveo UVa - 1.2 base variant at Habsiguda, Hyderabad.

Mine was KA registered car and local dealers were not interested to buy other state registered cars due to limited customers.

I visited CARS 24 outlet with car along with family. They did their routine scan and followed procedures. Informed us to wait for 30- 40 min for online bidding to complete. At the end they offered quote of 64 K. We were surprised by the offer, as car was well maintained with good service history and no incidents. Finally we rejected the offer.

Next month we visited my native (Hubli in KA) for holidays. I uploaded the pictures and car details in one of the online car selling website quoting my offer. I sold to a customer and got better deal than CARS 24.
This entire process was completed in 3 days, during our holidays. RTO formalities were taken care by the buyer as he had good contacts in Local RTO office.

Many people saying no test drive on Cars24. It's not the case here. You can choose and book the car online by paying very small amount like Rs 999/-. They will bring car home or you can go to their yard and take a detailed test drive. If you don't like the car, you can return immediately or say No and you can get refund for your money for booking the car. I found it to be ok.

Best thing is they are giving you full 100% refund within 7 days of using car. One can use car up to 500 kms in 7 days and judge the car. If it didn't suit your requirement or choice, you can return and get your full money back. I found this to be amazing thing. No other regular car dealer will give you this facility. In fact once you buy car from them, most of them don't entertain you even for small things, forget warranty. We have experienced it.

Hope this model will be successful and they will get success. People can really sit at home and see multiple cars instead of going out and visiting multiple dealers. It will save peoples money and time.

Cars24 is getting funded well and is slated to start operations in SEA soon. Operations in Australia are already on.

Hope they take note of the customer woes and strategise well.

Like many processes with regards to anything to do with the Govt (state or centre), these have gotten extremely simplified and easy.

I recently (2 months ago) sold a vehicle of mine and I got the ownership transferred without any Byzantine complications.

Step 1 - Submit the form 29 to the Bank to get the NOC - Time taken 30 mins (this was my fault though, I forgot to get the noc and hypothecation lifted though it expired some 3 years ago). The process itself was simply signing the form and giving it at the bank, but it was the going to the bank and coming back that took 20 mins + 10 mins there.

Step 2 - Log onto Parivahan, pay (I think i paid Rs 500 iirc), fill up the docs, print it out, submit it in the chosen RTO - Total time taken 45 mins (time in RTO was 15 mins or so)

Step 3 - 40 days later done.

That was it.

If one can't spend an hour spread over a week to get the RC transfer and rather pay a tout than it is upon them.

Like RPO's, RTO's have been streamlined substantially in the recent past, payments are mostly online and queues are also non existent (if you have done all the steps correctly).

Yes, 10-15 years ago things were an absolute nightmare. I went 5 times to get my 2 wheeler license in 2001, because I refused to pay a tout, and the RTO guys made me pay for my audacity. It worked because the one time in my life I paid a bribe / engaged a tout was for my car license. I was working full time then (2003), didnt have the time or inclination to make 10 visits to get a license, so very very reluctantly paid off a driving school Rs 2,500 iirc to get it done for me and only showed up for the driving test.

These days I would recommend no one pay any tout / middleman to do RTO / RPO type jobs because it is superfluous and a waste of money.
Spoken from personal experience of trying to get an out of state vehicle transferred.

I think the hassle is most of these sites need you to input your mobile number at the last step in order to either get an OTP or to just process the online price estimation bit.
So even if your not immediately looking at selling and maybe just want to check on the current price of your car, they still treat it as a potential sale and your on their database now, hence the constant calls.

Re: Cars24 moves used car buying entirely online (including home delivery & returns)

I got my Getz evaluated by Cars24 and got a quote of Rs. 1,70,000 in March. Did not bother negotiating with them as my new vehicle delivery got delayed. I got it evaluated last week as I got the new vehicle and they quoted 1,37,000 for the same vehicle which has run only 100 kms since the initial quote, which they increased to 1,55,000 and I did not accept. When I contacted them again today by going to their showroom, they said the old quote is invalid and they need to take a new quote online based on the same report and the quote is 1,23,000. So it seems in Cars 24, you should only take quote, based on their online auction, when you are ready to give the vehicle, otherwise with each subsequent quote the value will go down.

Re: Cars24 moves used car buying entirely online (including home delivery & returns)

Hello dear fellow members! This is my first post on tbhp. I've recently taken a plunge with cars24 as I need a beater car for my hometown (Ajmer) where Rapid that I purchased last year is rendered almost useless due to unscientific speed bumps and potholes. In addition to that it's really difficult to drive with crazy traffic which mostly comprises of 2 wheelers and 4 wheelers pretending to be 2 wheelers.

After spending 2 weeks I've finally zeroed down on a Honda amaze diesel S idtech 94k on odo(2013). I was able to negotiate 10k on listed price since the music system didn't work, ac switch light didn't come on and one rear indicator didn't work contrary to what they described in full report on cars24 app. So I paid 999, took a test drive, checked basics (dents, scratches, boot, tires, engine bay, lights, power windows, ac cooling, nvh, steering feedback) and was mostly satisfied. I closed the deal in 2.45L (they offered a 5k Amazon voucher if I made the full payment on weekend, I know the trick but still discounts and deals are always welcome)

Tomorrow I'm taking delivery and was assured of 7 days/500kms policy where I could return the vehicle, no questions asked and 100% money back. What gave me peace of mind is that they vouch for 2 things very clearly-
1. The car is not accidental
2. Odo is not tampered

I'm planning to take it to my trusted FNG and get a second opinion while I test own it for 7 days. Seeking expert advice from community members on do's and don'ts after I take the delivery tomorrow.

Thanks
Gaurav

Re: Cars24 moves used car buying entirely online (including home delivery & returns)

After 2 months and a lot of reasearch on which car best fits my use case, I zeroed in on a 2009 corolla altis 1.8GL and returned the amaze back to cars24 within 7 days.
Barring few jiggles I'm in love with this car and look forward to a fuss free ownership. Open to any queries that fellow members may have regarding cars24 process and the car itself.

Thanks
Gaurav

Do we have to buy another car from the same location in case we decide to return the vehicle within 7 days?

Re: Cars24 moves used car buying entirely online (including home delivery & returns)

I have interacted with Cars24 twice . Once to sell my Punjab registration Alto 800 which I was using in Bangalore and then recently last week to sell my dad's Honda City 09 model.
My experience has been pretty good with them with the best part being of getting the ownership transferred without running point to point. My Alto was transported and ownership transferred to the next owner in a span of roughly 5 months and hopefully, the Honda City ownership transfer also should happen without any drama.
Overall a Thumbs Up.

Re: Cars24 moves used car buying entirely online (including home delivery & returns)

I am trying to sell my Ford Ecosport AT via Cars24, but the 1st home inspection appointment was yesterday i.e 19-08-2021, at 9 pm, no call, nothing.
After I complained on twitter, I started getting calls every 2-3 hours each with the same question of do you want to sell a car? Address? Private owned or company owned? And so on.

Now I booked a new appointment tomorrow, i.e 21-08-2021 at 3 pm. I think this time I have to visit their given address (which they said they will call me for) instead of them coming to my home.
Another annoying thing is, my Ecosport is a Titanium Plus AT, but they don't show that in their menus

No it's your choice if you want to then you can. I took the refund and started the process all over again, I had my apprehensions about keeping the money blocked. Now I'm pretty ok since they are improving their operations one day at a time. A friend also purchased a 2011 honda city and is pretty darn happy with his purchase.

Thanks

Congrats Gaurav. I see your location as Noida. Curious if you plan to use it in NCR amid the NGT rulings.

EDIT: I missed your previous post regarding that the car will be used in Ajmer. Excellent pick Gaurav!!!

I know I can't get the RC renewed beyond November'24 but until then I understand I'll have derived the value which I intend to. Post Nov'24 I'll most likely trade it off with an EV and if I don't feel like departing then it will sit in the garage (can use it as a carobar )

Cars24 are certainly funded very well in 2021!

They had quoted a much much lower price for a flop model in 2019 and in 2021 they bought the same car for 1.3Lacs more

I think they want to build a huge inventory so buying cars left right and centre with all the fundings they have received!

The process is professional with regards to inspection/delivery/payment/RC transfer etc. Everything is transparent well documented and quick.

I am worried will they survive for long as they are going on a buying spree by shelling out more than what the actual resale market value of the car.
