Is this a typo sir? Because new variants with feature additions will do exactly what you said that is make the owners who just recieved their car feel short changed.

Re: Scoop! Tata discontinues a few diesel variants of the Nexon

These variants revisions are a welcome move. Always felt the feature distribution in Nexon was not good. XE was seriously barebones. The only reason most people bought XM is because it's less than 10L ex showroom. XZ should have had more features. Cruise control not available even on XZ+ is disappointing.

The growth in the number of variants is due to the addition/deletion of features. The 'forever new' is utter crap. I bought an Altroz XZ (it was the single tone roof top variant) and three months later Altroz XZ+ was launched with extra two tweeters, leather seats and connected car features. This did not bother me. But it would have upset me so much if the new variant had 60:40 split.

The best thing to do is to launch the car with complete features. Update features only on facelifts/new generations. Existing customers wouldn't be short changed then.

Re: Scoop! Tata discontinues a few diesel variants of the Nexon

Tata Motors’ official statement on the Nexon Diesel

Earlier this week, we had reported that Tata Motors had discontinued a few diesel variants of the Nexon. These included the XE, XMA, XZ, and XZA+ (S) trims.

According to the company, this had fuelled rumours about the Nexon diesel range being discontinued altogether. Therefore, Tata Motors has now issued an official statement to put an end to all speculations.

Official statement:

Quote:
Reportage published on some media platforms has led to rumors about Tata Motors discontinuing its Nexon diesel range. Tata Motors clarifies that: The Tata Nexon is among the most popular compact SUVs in India and its diesel variant is very popular with a growing demand and a loyal following. To simplify the choices for its customers, Tata Motors has opted to discontinue select variants and introduced updates in others. The Nexon is now available in 20 variants offering customers an exciting product proposition at different price points and the most choice in the compact SUV segment. The Nexon’s range includes 12 variants in petrol and 8 variants in diesel with automatic and manual transmissions options. In keeping with its brand promise of ‘New Forever’ and with the objective to offer more value to customers, Tata Motors refines and refreshes its portfolio of trims and variants from time to time in line with market feedback.

From 36 down to 20, that is quite a welcome move!
