Mahindra to launch 9 SUVs, 14 CVs, 37 tractors by 2026

Mahindra plans to launch 23 new products in the automotive sector in the coming years. These include 9 SUVs and 14 commercial vehicles. Out of these, 6 SUVs and 6 commercial vehicles will be battery powered. The next-gen Scorpio and XUV700 SUVs are scheduled to be launched in the current financial year.

Additionally, the company will launch 37 tractor models under its Project K2 by 2026. The K2 series is a lightweight tractor programme. These tractors are being developed by a collaboration between Mitsubishi Mahindra Agricultural Machinery, Japan and Mahindra Research Valley, India. They are expected to be launched in three to four years. The first set of tractors will be introduced in 2023.

While the tractor industry is expected to grow in the low single digits in FY2021-22, Mahindra is ramping up production as it expects a strong demand between June and July. Demand in the auto sector is likely to take a longer time to pick up.

Mahindra has planned investments amounting to Rs. 12,000 crore in new models in the auto and farm sectors. Another Rs. 5,000 crore will be invested in group companies as well as the auto and farm sectors.

The company has planned a total investment of Rs. 17,000 crore over the next three years. Out of this, Rs. 9,000 crore is to be invested in the automotive sector. While Rs. 6,000 crore will be invested in conventional vehicles, Rs. 3,000 crore will be kept aside for electric vehicles. Rs. 3,000 crore will be invested in the farm equipment sector.

Do we have any clarity on V201? Is it the rumoured Creta rival that's supposed to be christened the next 5OO?

The rest of the product lineup is pretty straight forward and as expected.

Re: Mahindra confirms 9 new cars for India by 2026

Pity that even with a big headstart, Mahindra is struggling to launch BEVs. While Tata is clearly the winner here even with a slow start. Leave alone grounds up BEV models in 2026, they can't even launch the eKUV and eXUV300.

All new Bolero 2023-26 - The Bolero clearly needs an all new platform, but given the timeline guess it would be around 2025-26. The Bolero with BS6 upgrades is still selling. But then, what about the rumoured branding of the TUV300 as the Bolero Neo?

W620- Looking at the Wxxx platform code, could be the coupe version of the XUV700.

V201 and all new XUV300- A little confusing here. A Creta rival is coming with the XUV500 branding. At the same time there are rumours that the XUV300 will be phased out.

Or simply put. The V201 could be the XUV500, while the XUV300 could be getting a new generation.

The TUV 300 was supposed to replace the Bolero in 2015 at its launch. But Dr.Goenka was taken aback by the sheer vehemence with which Mahindra's Bolero buyers reacted to a replacement for the Bolero. A last minute fateful decision was taken to retain the Bolero, thereby nailing the TUV 300's coffin. After its launch, its positioning was awry from the start - it was getting compared against 4 cylinder engined softroaders which was completely opposite to what the TUV was and the Bolero is.

I foresee Mahindra consolidating the Bolero product line going forward. There will be ruthless deletions. It is what it is...or should I say, it will be what it has to be?

Re: Mahindra confirms 9 new cars for India by 2026

V201 should be the Marazzo replacement. I don't think the coupe and XUV500 are different. I can't see any reason for a coupe to exist along with the rumored XUV500. I think they are the same cars. And it can take the fight to Harrier.

On another note, I think Mahindra should have prioritized the new Scorpio over XUV700. By the time XUV700 comes, the Safari would have established the name. The XUV700 looks like a van from the spy shots and will have a tough time against the looks of the Tata. The new Scorpio on the other hand is a butch SUV and can destroy the whole Safari branding with its looks and 4x4 capability.

Wow this is what we were waiting for a long time. A complete revamp of the Mahindra line-up of vehicles. Love the way the company has been working since the last few years. So, according to me the future line-up by 2027 may look something like this:

2020 - Thar
2021 - XUV700
2022 - Scorpio
2023 - Thar 5D/Armada
2024 - Bolero Sub 4M & W620/XUV900
2025 - V201 (Seltos/Creta Rival) & Born EV1
2026 - Bolero Plus, V201+ (a 7 seater maybe) & Born EV2
2027 - XUV300 (sub 4M)

Really focused portfolio building on the strengths of the company. I just hope that all models get just at least a variant focusing on 4x4 for enthusiasts like us. Also, I do believe Mahindra won't invest further on MPVs looking at their track record. Moreover, their line-up will have the highest number of 7 seater options, so that should suffice.

Also, the recent focus on safety by the company along with persistence of a minimum 4 star for all their vehicles will be major plus. Plus, their engines portfolio is among the best now. Competition, do look out for this new and energetic Mahindra.

Interesting time ahead!!
