This is another key issue, RNI need not be fully responsible for any healthcare related costs as these are mainly contract workers. RNI are liable but by the time one sues, you're dead!

Because I am awaiting an Ecosport which they claimed at the beginning of the month to be allocated in my name and thereafter no further news. I've heard from my SA at that time that there had been covid cases and deaths in Ford too.

Carmakers in the Indian automobile hub of Chennai will be allowed to keep operating, amid protests by workers who fear catching COVID-19 in one of the country's hardest-hit states.

a government order issued on Saturday said so-called continuous process industries, which include auto factories, would be allowed to function in accordance with measures such as social distancing to stem the virus's spread.

It also urged vehicle manufacturers to initiate immediate action to vaccinate all their employees within a month.

Tamil Nadu's government also gave permission for units near Chennai with export orders, such as construction and mining equipment maker Caterpillar Inc and Taiwan electronics manufacturer Foxconn, to operate their plants with 50% worker capacity.

Global carmakers operating in Chennai have said they will prioritize worker safety and adherence to social-distancing protocols.

Renault Nissan workers to boycott work till Covid measures are taken.

The workers union at the Franco-Japanese joint venture plant Renault Nissan Automotive India Private Ltd has decided not to report for duty on Monday till Covid-19 safety measures are put in place.

According to the Union, the company management was not inclined to reduce production by cutting down the footfalls to maintain the social distance inside the plant.

The Union said, social distance is not maintained in the car plant's body shop conveyor line.

the management did not give the Union any acceptance to their demand of rehabilitation measures for the family members of the workers who died due to the Covid-19 and with respect to the medical treatment for affected workers.

Five workers have died and about 850 have been infected with the coronavirus at Renault Nissan Automotive since last year

HC intervenes:

Workers' safety can't be compromised for production volumes.

The Madras High Court on Monday asked the Franco-Japanese car joint venture Renault Nissan Automotive India Private Ltd to complete its study on maintaining social distance at the production line at the earliest. The court also asked the company workers to resume duty on Tuesday and the state government to depute a senior officer to the factory to see the Covid-19 safety protocols there.

Factories of Hyundai Motor, Ford India and Eicher Motor have restarted their production after a couple of days of closure in the wake of Covid-19 spread.

Demands the company to increase the financial assistance to Rs.50 lakh to the family of the worker's who die of Covid-19.

The Executive Committee of Renault Nissan India Thozhilalar Sangam (RNITS) held on Monday decided that the company management's officer of six months salary of the worker's last drawn pay to the family of the worker's who die of Covid-19 is unacceptable.

The Madras High Court has allowed Renault-Nissan to continue production at its manufacturing plant near Oragadam in Tamil Nadu. As reported by PTI, the court's nod came after a week-long tussle between the automakers and workers' union.

At the same time, the court has directed the automakers to address the issues flagged by the state government regarding the safety of workmen with respect to the COVID-19. The carmakers had temporarily halted operations at the Chennai facility after workers went on strike, complaining that COVID-19 safety protocols not maintained amid the pandemic.
