Re: Mahindra greenlights XUV900 SUV coupe

Why are there renderings ? Don't we already know how the XUV900 coupe is going to look like ? Wasn't one shown in the last auto show with an almost production ready exterior?

Isn't this similar to Renault Arkana. Really don't understand what is holding back renault from bringing it here.

Re: Mahindra greenlights XUV900 SUV coupe

I personally find the coupe SUVs like the X6 and the GLE coupe quite ugly (The X6 reminds me of the Pontiac Aztec for some reason!). Something about those two look really off, especially when you look at the side profile. Makes you feel like coupe SUVs shouldn't be a thing.

But then there are cars like the Audi Q8 (IMHO the best looking coupe SUV) and the brilliant looking Cayenne coupe (Esp. the Turbo GT). Ultimately depends on the designer I guess, I bet Pratap Bose will make it work!

Re: Mahindra greenlights XUV900 SUV coupe

I am surprised there is even a market for this (Is there?).

Besides, it makes sense to give the XUV900 moniker to a Ford Endeavour sized SUV (and the XUV500 to a Creta sized one).

That way, it is a clear progression from the XUV300 all the way to the 900. They can actually announce it today by simply renaming the Alturas as the XUV900.

Are you talking about this one? This was based on the outgoing XUV500, while the XUV900 will most likely be a coupe version of XUV700.

Yes and No. I am aware that the concept was based on the XUV500 but I meant how difficult would it be to render the 900 based on the new 700

M&M may have asked the same question and found the answer in their Thar orderbook. If a 3-door UV can garner 75K+ booking, I guess there is a lot needs to explored, waiting to be exploited in the Indian automotive market.

As many have mentioned, if Mr. Bose - whose team now has a job cut out for them- can deliver a great-looking vehicle M&M would be ordering, well another order book.

Couldn't agree more with you ! Other than Urus and Cayenne all other coupe SUV's look very confusing and weird. None of them come even close to how their sedan counterparts look - BMW gt series, Audi sportsback and Elantra. These sedan coupe's look just droolworthy But now with Pratap Bose leading the design segment for Mahindra, I'm sure he'll make this XUV900 coupe a beautiful machine !

Re: Mahindra greenlights XUV900 SUV coupe

Hello bhpians.

Here's some latest info on the XUV900.

1. Mahindra is testing air suspension for the upcoming XUV900. It already has made a few prototypes of the same. But whether this feature will be available at launch remains to be seen.

2. The XUV900 will feature a sliding and reclining 2nd row because the sloping roofline will eat into the headroom of the 2nd row occupants and this way the seating can be made more flexible and comfortable.

3. The boot space with the 2nd row up will be close to 790 ltrs while with the 2nd row folded it will be around 1800 ltrs.

4. According to my sources, the interior quality of the XUV900 will see a big improvement over the XUV700. We can expect better quality plastics as well as leather cladding on the dash.

5. Mahindra has begun work on hydrogen fuel cell technology but it's still in a nascent stage and if indeed it sees the light of day, this technology won't be launched till the next generation of the XUV arrives.

That's all for now. Stay tuned for more info.

Got to hand it to Mahindra for attempting to bring luxury car features at relatively accessible price points!

Re: Mahindra greenlights XUV900 SUV coupe

looks like an alien predator out to chew up everyone on road. After penning good looking XUV700, ScorpioN and Thar, Mahindra wanted to try its hands on something weird and ugly, for a change?
