Mahindra steps in with ‘Oxygen on Wheels’ in Maharashtra

India is currently dealing with an acute shortage of oxygen as the country grapples with the second wave of the coronavirus pandemic. Now, Mahindra has stepped in to assist hospitals and medical centres in the state of Maharashtra.

Mahindra has rolled out a free service called 'Oxygen on Wheels' (O2W) in Mumbai, Thane, Pune, Pimpri-Chinchwad, Chakan, Nashik and Nagpur. O2W will use over 100 Mahindra vehicles to ferry oxygen cylinders.

Mahindra is in talks with other civic administrations and government departments to roll out this service in other cities including Delhi. The company is also looking at extending this initiative to deliver oxygen cylinders directly to patients' homes.

The company is closely working with the government to set up oxygen plants and building isolation centres. M&M’s plants as well as its suppliers are not using oxygen for any industrial activity. Tech Mahindra supported Nursing Academy’s staff and students have been helping in various hospitals.

The Mahindra group has always been helpful. One of the Tech Mahindra offices was converted to a Covid facility recently.

I was reading about this auto driver Javed Khan who pawned his wifes jewelery to help patients with oxygen. He is helping out in Bhopal.
I was looking for a crowdfunding site for him but found none.

Wonderful initiative in these dire times and shows the empathetic side of the company. I hope the service comes to the aid of the needy and lives are saved. This service should now be ideally rolled out in small towns where the medical facilities are not that sound and where there is dearth of beds and ventilator support. Well done Mahindra
