Hi all,

I was going through the feature list of Ertiga and rumoured list for XL6. One of the key differences I see is the lack of UV cut glasses on Ertiga.

Considering that sunfilms and equivalent are not legal, I feel UV Cut glasses becomes an important requirement in India. I have a Baleno and feel the difference with my other car, Grand i10.

Now my requirement is for a bench seating in mid row, so that knocks XL6 out, which leaves Ertiga. My question is, would it be possible for an Ertiga be retrofited with UV cut glasses from XL6 later and if so , will it cause any legal issues? Also, does anyone know the cost of these UV Cut glasses - maybe from Baleno for rough calculation?

Yes refreshed Ertiga is officially launched, refreshed XL6 is scheduled to be launched on April 21.

The difference between the old and new models is so subtle for the untrained eyes that Maruti can probably use this as a marketing tool!

What I want from XL6 as a premium over the Ertiga is Disc Brakes all around (all 4 wheels). Good braking in a car is a major factor for me as it enhances handling in tricky situations.

I too believe that there will be good demand for AT with CNG variant. People want convenience of automatic in today's worsening traffic situation plus fuel efficiency of CNG in new era of high energy costs. One can always fold last row seats of Ertiga / XL6, use them as just 4 or 5 seater car and can have decent luggage space too. So it will be win-win solution for many.

New Ertiga/XL6 combo will easily do 12-15K every month for Maruti. With new models, Maruti has added few good features to make it better than before. Ertiga I can see as "FUV" where "F" stands for "Family", "Fun" and "Flexibility". I am owning one since last 8 months and I am really enjoying it. It's a perfect family car.

1 You get lots of flexibility. It's a spacious 5 seater or comfortable 5+2 Kids or you can carry 8 people in case of emergency as well.
2 1.5 L is a gem of a engine. Very good to drive in city, good low end torque available. Pulls with ease with 6-7 people + luggage on board.
3 Great fuel efficiency. You can easily achieve 18-20 on highways with light foot and 14-15 in city.
4 ACC works like a charm, very powerful AC for Indian hot climate.
5 Suspension is really good, ride quality is plush.
6 Interiors are simple yet elegant, no one will complaint. In fact it looks really good in long run, simple and functional.
7 Very cost effective, you get maximum value for your hard earned money. Zxi+ offers so many features at that price point which no body offers, period.
8 Good resale value.
9 Looks reasonably good for an UV.
10 Good for airport runs as well. You can carry 5 people plus lots of luggage.

2022 Maruti Suzuki XL6 launch date announced

Maruti Suzuki will announce the prices for the 2022 XL6 on April 21, 2022.



The 2022 Maruti XL6 will receive a few cosmetic changes. A recent teaser video has revealed the car's revised front fascia featuring a new chrome radiator grille. The MPV is also expected to come with a new set of dual-tone alloy wheels.

Inside, the XL6 will receive minor updates. It will also come with the latest 7-inch SmartPlay Pro touchscreen infotainment system, besides features such as auto headlamps and cruise control.

The XL6 will be powered by the same 1.5-litre petrol mild-hybrid engine that is offered in the 2022 Ertiga. It makes 102 BHP @ 6,000 rpm and 136.8 Nm @ 4,400 rpm. In addition to a 5-speed manual, the XL6 will also get a new 6-speed automatic transmission with paddle shifters.

I was expecting changes similar to the old vs new Baleno. They should have atleast changed the interior dash area similar to Baleno to make it look fresh. Guess the AT and some changes in the infotainment system are major ones.

The reason behind that, I feel, is that Baleno, Brezza and the European S Cross are generation changes for Maruti, whereas Ertiga and XL6 are mere facelifts.

We should be grateful to Maruti that they added features and gave us new gearboxes in the Ertiga and XL6, because usually all they do is a 'face'lift in facelift. Case in point, The Swift, had a new chrome strip in the grill, and the Dzire, had a new face, though that came with a updated engine.

Disappointed that its not getting 6 airbags to differentiate it from Ertiga from safety point of view, though there are other common features.
