Why would they do it? Infact that should have been the second feature listing after 6AT. That also shows MSIL preparedness for carrying out projects based on the business cases derived out of external regulations and that too with a pro-active approach.
Of course everyone knows that they are answering to competitors.

Infact I am thankful to KIA for pushing MSIL to raise the standards of their products something that was just lying there in the labs for our country and was waiting for the 'right time'. Now it is.

Like I have posted before, the upcoming CAFE norms were a challenge to Suzuki unlike to any other maker in the country as Suzuki already had very good Fuel Efficiency and Low emissions across its line up. The CAFE norms demanded year on year improvement from that base. The quantum jump from BSIV to BSVI was another shock. The penalty for non compliance was massive. It was and still is a massive challenge to Suzuki and they have been investing significant resources into preparing India specific and Volume driving technologies. Unlike other makers, Suzuki has not made any inorganic acquisitions for the same. The Japanese government push to Toyota for an alliance has been a god send for their conundrum. Every new technology adds weight and affects Fuel Efficiency and has to be counterbalanced by powertrain advancements. It is only now that Suzuki is introducing new stuff after it is confident of the capabilities of its newer powertrains.

So rather than KIA or GNCAP or TATA, it was more of external constraints that lead to non introduction of new technologies. One thing to remember is, even without new technologies, Suzuki was still able to sell all that it was able to make. That is an enviable position to be in.

CAFE norms have nothing to do with safety. Maruti were forced to introduce 6 air bags due to safety standards set by other major manufacturers

If it is Hyundai and Kia that is referred by other manufacturers, I wish Maruti to not follow them. Atleast now Maruti has 2 products in their lineup that scored more points in GNCAP than top of the line offering from Hyundai and Kia(Ertiga and Brezza scored more points than Seltos and Creta)

Ertiga gets 4 airbags and not the curtain airbags. Carma2017 was right that installing curtain airbags may not be possible without structural changes. So best way to incorporate more airbags would have been to get the seat mounted side airbags. Will XL6 also get 4 airbags? Or will they incorporate the side airbags in the rear seats too increasing the number to 6?

The Seats are likely to be common. So, it would be logical to keep expect the same in XL6.

I am very much interested in 6 AT with XL6 and these prices are mouth watering for Ertiga But just wondering if XL6 will be priced above Ertiga or at par.

I am hoping MSIL do not get greedy with 6 AT on XL6.

With Six airbags compulsory rule MSIL will need to do the needful May be at a later stage. I guess with Baleno it was easy as being a global model it already had Six airbags

Since XL6 uses same or similar captains chairs in the second row and the first row of the car, it would be great it Maruti does use these seats with airbags in them in the second row. IMHO, It would not make good sense not to do so.

XL6 definitely getting the same airbag structure as Ertiga. However they 'might' introduce additional seat airbags on the second row. But chances are low
