Exactly. Like you'd sell the car without a front grill or tail lamps.

The right price comparison for XL6 Alpha Plus would be Innova Touring Sport variant. Again, the price difference is huge.

They belong to totally different segments, and are suitable for different usage patterns. XL6 would beat Innova any day for city usage. Innova is a highway mile cruncher.
The 2020 Toyota Innova – known as the Innova Crysta in India – has received a 5-star safety rating from ASEAN NCAP.

I am not sure how ASEAN NCAP compares to the global NCAP.

Yes, I agree with you here, they do belong to different segments. I am looking for a car just for the highways. The old XL6 was VFM. Guess I expected that with the new XL6 as well.

Funny thing is after the price list came out, I called my SA. He told me that he didn't know how to justify the price hike.

Looks like I'll have to look at alternatives around the 18-20L price point and decide now.

That's poor from Suzuki if their SAs are not trained to justify changes that cause price increase. Here in Japan, one of my friends who is a dealer sales Rep at a multi-car sales outlet, was actually asked to leave for being unable to justify fully why a customer should buy a certain car. His boss called that as incompetency as the general story line of all new cars, facelifts and refreshes are drilled into sales reps before hand. Its strange that Suzuki with such a well oiled machinery in India, has not yet managed to train it's reps even after price reveal.

Re: 2022 Maruti Ertiga & XL6, now launched

This pricing makes Carens look more value for money, just because of the standard 6 airbags configuration in Carens. It was okay to price it this way or even marginally higher than Carens if XL6 also had six airbags as standard. With this pricing, there is simply no reason for anyone to go for XL6 over Carens.

And I still don't find the torque converter mentioned anywhere. Suzuki just says 6AT in all the advertisements. Maybe they are using this to move people away from the AMT vs TC debate. Call everything AT and do not mention the underlying technology. That way, they can normalize the AMT in Baleno. Call that 5 AT and this as one 6AT, without mentioning the underlying technology.

Considering that the XL6 is global NCAP 3 star rated while Innova is 4 star ASEAN NCAP rated the Innova may or may not be marginally better. Comparing petrol to petrol cars I doubt that the petrol Innova would be able to carry its resale value as compared to diesel. Also daily running cost would be really high as compared to the XL6 to add to the main 7.5 lakhs difference in price. For me the XL6 is a decent 4 seater product at a decent price point with occasional additional seats added to make it lucrative.

That's a fair point. I didn't take into account, the running costs. I just have a family of 3. Lets see how much lower I can get the price of Alpha+ AT here in Bangalore.

2018 swift scored 4 star in Asean Ncap and 2 star in GNCAP. ASEAN NCAP result clearly specify it is applicable to models sold in ASEAN countries and India is not in that list.So it is not applicable to any car that is sold here.

Re: 2022 Maruti Ertiga & XL6, now launched

Maruti has caught up to the competition in the pricing. Whether the product will match the competition is to be seen.

While there is a high demand in the market for new cars, I don't see people buying products that are not priced well in the long run. The market demand is kind of cooling off and may normalize after September 2022.

The new Zeta has more features and is better spec-ed than old Alpha variant.

The price increase is around 50k for the MT, and 75k for the AT

If you do a detailed comparison - you are most likely to conclude that XL6 is still vfm.

The old Zeta variant was truly vfm. But that variant has been moved to Ertiga.

No, nah. I refer to TATA and Mahindra as safety conscious manufacturers

Re: 2022 Maruti Ertiga & XL6, now launched

I echo the thoughts of the forum, with Maruti's build quality not being at par with its Korean counterparts, especially in the interior. However, speaking from personal experience, I feel the XL6 Zeta MT is still a better bet than the lower end Kia Carens. Being a six seat configuration, its logical comparison is with the equivalent six seater Carens, which are at the least a good 3L+ more expensive on-road here in Hyderabad.

I was advising my cousins on a MPV just recently, we have bookings for the Carens 1.5L Prestige Petrol 6MT @12.75L OTR (with a wait of 4 more months) and for the XL6 Zeta Petrol 5MT @13.44L OTR (with a delivery promise of April end or May 2nd week, excluded accessories and extended warranty here in the OTR).

I feel the XL6 here is better even though it has a higher cost due to its captain chair configuration and overall appeal over the Prestige variant of the Carens, which doesn't even get Alloys, let alone 16 inch wheels as standard.

PS: Attached is the Hyderabad OTR price list for the facelifted XL6

Re: 2022 Maruti Ertiga & XL6, now launched

Dear Friends,

I received a 'Letter of Allotment' basically an email by my dealer (Nexa Magarpatta, Pune) today stating that my XL6 Alpha AT Nexa Blue (Booked on April 4, 2022) is allocated to my booking. There are 3 major details mentioned in the email which are following:

Allotment Number : ALT22XXXXXX

Chassis No : MA3CNC7XXXXXXXXXX

Engine No : 901XXXX

Booking Id is not mentioned in the email.

The car would reach the dealership on April 27th. The dealer has given 7 days to complete payment formalities from today however I have clearly mentioned that I am not going to pay a single penny before PDI.

Dealer also tells me that they have ordered 3 XL6 (two manual and one AT) and mine would be the one AT that they have ordered.

Is there a way I can check the status of the vehicle based on the above details?

I have also booked the same model with Nexa Vimannagar today who are giving my expected price for my existing car as part of exchange (something I am not getting from Nexa Magarpatta).

I am keeping the negotiation open for my existing car for exchange with Nexa Magarpatta in case I have better understanding of the status of my today's booking by April 27th.

Any thoughts and pointers from my fellow bhpians here would be highly appreciated. I am doing the exchange based purchase for the first time.

Thanks in advance Guys!

Best Regards.
Achint
