Volkswagen discontinues Turbo edition of Polo, Vento

Volkswagen has removed the Turbo edition of the Polo and Vento from the brand's Indian website.

The Turbo editions of both cars were based on the Comfortline variants. The cars got some cosmetic changes including a glossy black spoiler and ORVMs, along with a fender badge and seat covers.

While the regular Polo Comfortline variant is powered by a naturally aspirated 1.0-litre engine, the Turbo edition came equipped with a 1.0-litre, 3-cylinder, turbocharged petrol engine that produced 108 BHP and 175 Nm. The engine came paired to a 6-speed manual gearbox.

This is in line with VW strategic thinking - If it ain’t broke, break it.

Re: Volkswagen discontinues Turbo edition of Polo, Vento

I would like to know the total number of turbo edition cars they delivered. I do not think they delivered more than 25-30 cars in the whole country. I booked it in February and they are not honouring the booking. Such a stupid company!

Serious note: I stated earlier and saying again, vento turbo edition has better value proposition.

Lighter note: But lets not worry, I hope VW introduce new variant next week and name it as bi-turbo . Bi-turbo edition will have turbo badges on both sides and again, it will be limited edition like previous ones i.e. available for couple of weeks and done!

Re: Volkswagen discontinues Turbo edition of Polo, Vento

Whatever, the Turbo Edition brought me to the VW showroom, loved the Turbo Edition.

With the Highline Plus right next to it and at a tangible price, got one home today.

All in all, it sure brought footfalls and got some converted to sales, mine is a classic example.

I would have never bought a Baleno or Swift top end, but, the VW deserves one.

Happy Motoring.

Man! People had just considered the Turbo edition more VFM and started suggesting it instead of Skoda's Rider variant.

It's time for them to achieve more volume in sales than having huge margin on each car. But no, VW being VW wants to dig it's own grave.

Sorry to say,

Re: Volkswagen discontinues Turbo edition of Polo, Vento

You had one job VW

They missed an opportunity to convert the footfalls in their showroom to sales. This was a VFM hatch and sedan which would have driven their monthly sales volumes, however, their (man)handling of customers who were interested in this edition, coupled with the apparent "non-availability" of this edition pan-India, meant they'd to pull the plug sooner than they'd have anticipated. Now the question remains, how many of these were built and delivered?

I wonder if the VW Polo is being mentioned anywhere except in Team-BHP and may be some hard core WhatsApp groups!

Re: Volkswagen discontinues Turbo edition of Polo, Vento

Sometimes I wonder if there is any 360 feedback working back to the company from the dealers at all. If their most powerful , capable and relatively inexpensive variant is not available in the showroom, what will the salespersons show to potential customer who has a I10 Nios/I20 , Maruti Swift or even a Kiger/Magnite on his/her radar. As it is you have 10+ year old body designs although they still have a good appeal.
Incidentally, did someone from Honda Cars India join Skoda-VW-India recently?

Re: Volkswagen discontinues Turbo edition of Polo, Vento

Just another day and another badged/special variant for the Polo that showed up and vanished the same way as every other one before it.
Could it be that it was a test of public interest more than actual sales they were looking for ? Or their marketing department had budget to finish before the end of the year ?

Re: Volkswagen discontinues Turbo edition of Polo, Vento

I think they will launch the internationally available latest Polo, minus the bumpers to beat the 4" rule (yes, 4", not 4 metre rule coz whoever came up with this wanted to punish the whole country for his own shortcoming). Badging may be "Chota Turbo".

I know this post doesn't add value to our forum, but if the GOI reads it, hopefully it will add some sense to their coffers.

I'd say if Ford goes down, and going by their stupid decisions they just might, then VW is next in line. Such good cars (even though old now) but such a ridiculous management.
