I understand both have DQ200.
But if reliability was a priority, which one to pick?
Both of the vehicles would use the exact same DSG gearbox.

The reliability of both would be exactly the same.

Re: Volkswagen Taigun | A Close Look & Preview

Give this vehicle a Chinese automotive name such as Hongqi, Baojun, Dongfeng or Zotye and it wouldn’t look out of place at all. It does not look like a VW by any stretch of imagination.

From the alloy design to the overload of chrome to the rear tail light design, it’s Chinese all the way.

Let’s make no bones about it, this is a car designed by the Chinese arm of VW for Chinese customers. VW couldn’t be bothered to make any changes for India so they sent across this abomination. Another quick shortcut by VW for the third world.

Reviewing cars is considered one of the perks of the job for automotive journalists but if ones gets saddled with the review of such a car...

It’s sold in Europe as well as the T-Cross (has the same dashboard as the Taigun), and manufactured in Spain and Brazil as well beside China. So I don’t think we can call it a VW China specific model!

And was unveiled in Shanghai, Amsterdam and São Paulo alongside.

There are other Chinese cars that are manufactured in Spain and Brazil and sold in Europe too. That doesn’t help to reduce their ancestry.

If it drives like a typical European VW car, I don't see a problem. Looks are subjective but for me the new Creta and the Seltos(front grill) look more Chinese than the Taigun. All these years we were complaining how VW is not bringing new cars to India. With Taigun ,VW is trying to please the "aam janta" and Bling is what they want. Can't really blame VW, it's delivering what the market is demanding. I have seen people modify their hatchbacks and cross overs with excessive chrome. Yeh dila mange "chrome" is the mantra

I kind off have a similar confusion!!
Doesn't Kushaq have DQ250 as the automatic transmission?

Here Taigun seems to have DQ250 for the 1 litre and DQ200 for the 1.5. This is confusing me a bit. I thought DQ250 was a newer and more improved transmission.

1.0 TSI AT uses the AQ250 torque converter.
1.5 TSI DSG uses DQ200 dry dual clutch unit.

This is for both Kushaq and Taigun. The Karoq and T-Roc too uses the same DQ200.

That chrome on the front and rear bumper is so overdone. Any photoshop whizzes in the house to show us what it might look like blackened out?

Here you go, tried my hand with the red one. Couldn't reciprocate the gloss finish as much as I'd want to, but nevertheless.

Yes, there are six airbags in the 1.5-litre TSI DSG, and sub-woofer too. Ventilated seats will be offered in the top-spec 1.0-litre TSI.

What about 1.0AT? Does it get only 2 airbags like Kushaq? Please VW, Skoda - give 6 airbags in 1.0 AT too. I would like to avoid spending more for 1.5 DSG and also get the DSG reliability issues in free

Thank you for the work, gloss black finish makes me realize how much ugly is the chrome and how beautiful is Tiagun is without it. I truly wish VW india offers this chrome as an optional package or make this available only on top end.

I've been waiting for base model model details, then I will have enough data take a call.
