Good observation. To add to this, the rear wipers look to be a conventional wiper design compared to the super slim ones the polo gets. This car shouts cost optimization all over and VW better not price it over optimistically.

While the 'King' is about to be launched, its sibling is still in test mode:

Re: Volkswagen Taigun | A Close Look & Preview

1.5 TSI engine with Active Cylinder Technology (ACT) can achieve unimaginably high mileage.
I did an experiment in which ACT was ON for most of the journey.
Distance : 25 KM
Hishway: 4 lane (empty)
Load: 4 adults & full luggage
Speed Range: 55-75 kmph
Gear: D6 for most of the ride, D5
Average speed: 63 kmph
Mileage : 29 kmpl

ACT (UK website)
ACT is active over an engine speed range between 1,400 and 4,000 rpm and torque outputs between 25 and approx. 100 Nm – a range that covers nearly 70 per cent of all driving states in the EU driving cycle! If the driver presses the accelerator pedal hard, both cylinders begin to work again without a noticeable transition. The high efficiency of the system has no negative effects on smooth running: even with two cylinders the excellently balanced the 1.5 TSI Evo engine of the Golf runs very quietly and with low vibration.

All mechanical switchover processes take place within one-half of a camshaft rotation; depending on engine speed this takes between just 13 and 36 milliseconds. Accompanying interventions in ignition and throttle valve processes smooth the transitions. What’s more, thanks to an accelerator pedal sensor and intelligent monitoring software, the system can also detect irregular driving profiles – such as during a drive through a roundabout or in sporty shifting on a highway. In such cases, cylinder shut-off is deactivated. The driver is aware of whether two or four cylinders are active by a related indicator in the multifunction display between the speedometer and tachometer.

They really need to get some PR guys who know something about cars to make these videos.

Re: Volkswagen Taigun | A Close Look & Preview

The advertisements give me the impression they could almost have been directly imported from some other parts of the world like LatAm, Korea etc. Probably in those markets, the Taigun is targeted at 20-something singles as a first car they would buy. The ideal target segment seems be odd-looking, party-craving youngsters hustling other drivers to get to their street party scene quickly. They just want a flashy neon car with a booming sound system to get there - they have no interest whatsoever in the mechanicals or the other features of the vehicle. All those hip-hop and reggetron sounds set the scene nicely, to attract eyeballs of this crowd.

In India, the likely buyers will be family types in their mid 30s or older, who are graduating from their first cars (hatchbacks etc), probably have a kid in tow, worry more about room for the in-laws and space for their luggage in the boot for airport pick-ups, whether parents can get in easily into the back seat, will the car fit into the tiny parking spot provided by the apartment society, and where to keep those extra large cellphones and charge them during the school-cum office runs. These ads are so totally misplaced for this segment, wholly unable to answer any such questions.

Re: Volkswagen Taigun | A Close Look & Preview

Production-spec Volkswagen Taiguns spotted near Mumbai.

Apart from the exterors differentiating it from the Kushaq, the Taigun gets subtle differences in the interior too, with the AC vents having a different design and the infotainment screen being neatly incorporated into the dashboard.
Quote:
Taigun will come with a 10-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Apple CarPlay, Android Auto and the My Volkswagen connect app (to access the connected car features). Another major feature on the inside will be the digital instrument cluster (Virtual Cockpit), which is something its sibling, the Kushaq, misses. Additionally, there will also be kit like automatic climate control, USB Type-C ports, wireless charging pad, and much more. On the safety front, the Taigun will come with six airbags, ESC (standard across all trims), tyre pressure deflation warning, and ISOFIX child seat mounts, to name a few.

The front Taigun with camouflaged rear, which covers the extended light bar, looks tighter and neat compared to the one with full lightbar. Might see some aftermarket modifications going that way.

Why does the roof line look so wavy? Is there like a recessed center? That would not be nice since rain water could potentially stagnate there.

I think its the camouflage that wraps the roofrails and antenna at the rear.

It's the plastic sheet to protect the new vehicle from scratches seen on all of the new VW group cars when shipped from the factory to some other places. The same sheet covers the rear LED strip of the Taigun moving ahead. On the roof, the sheet covers the roofrails and the antenna, that's why giving a curvy effect.

Oh this must be the Taigun Zagato edition with the iconic 'double-bubble' roof.
