My humble Ford Freestyle comes with factory installed stickers on doors. IMO it helps to break the overall blandness. My car's dark color hides these stickers. Hence I've added thin outlines to it.

In their latest Flair variant Ford went batshit crazy and it lacks any taste.

Depends, to be honest. I really like the stickering on the Storme, perfectly matches with the adventure feel of the SUV, but I don't appreciate RS/SPORT/FASTER THAN LIGHT stickering on maybe a 1.2 swift.

I'm really not a fan of stickers unless they're sporty. I'd prefer to do a custom sticker job if I need it. Nowadays, we have alloys, chrome, and different plastic/glass trims to differentiate cars in the looks department.

Back in the 2000s, Toyota was new to India. My mom loved the stickers on Qualis GS vs the plain FS. No prizes for guessing which variant we picked. Stickers were a talking point on the FS, GS, and GST variants. Pics for reference. Plain jane Qualis FS-

I've voted for No.

Plain, simple looking cars are best and that's what I prefer. Most stickers/livery that come from factory are loud or 'in-the'face' types (exceptions could be Abarth Punto to a certain extent).

Going custom-made is any day better since the owner knows what he/she wants hence shall be done to his/her taste. And moreover this topic is more of 'personal taste' preference types - what I like may not be necessary that you like it too.

Voted Depends on the sticker and vehicle.

While I never liked any of the stickers on Maruti or Hyundai cars, I found the subtle stickering on cars such as M&M Scorpio/Bolero, TATA Harrier/Sumo, Toyota Innova appealing. The stickering on these cars saved the car from looking plain and bland.

Some of the stickering on VW POLO/Vento too looked good to my eyes.

It's a big NO for me. I am some one who is obsessed with the de-badged look of cars. I de-badged my new Rapid when it was one week old. My Honda City also was de-badged long back. I may continue this custom forever for all my future cars, and it would be difficult for me to peel away all those stickers. So no stickers for me.

I have a 2019 Freestyle and I agree 100% with your post!

Earlier, When I bought the Ritz, I was offered the Dazzle package which had some stickers. I told the SA I am not interested in stickers (I was interested in the body coloured ORVMs though) and they said people are queuing up for the Dazzle mainly for the 'artwork' !!
Which is clearly not the case, as you rarely saw a Dazzle edition of the Ritz on the roads.

Meanwhile MG in lame attempt to hide their Chinese connection and showcase their British Marque legacy ,use Union Jack wraps and stickers in some regions.

The only kind of decals I've liked on cars are stripes. The iconic Dodge Viper in blue with white stripes was my all time favourite. Anyone remember playing Test Drive 4 on PC in 1997?

Voted for depends on the car and sticker. My Rapid came with some Anniversary kit which had a black top and a sticker on the side. I usually hate any stickers on the car (except the Team-BHP ones) but this one did not have any cheesy “Sports”, “Turbo” or any similar tag. This also made the Rapid look a bit longer in profile. Perhaps due to the visual effect.

Voted “depends”, my current car came with factory stripes on the bonnet and I love the way it looks.

I have seen several minis without the stripes and they feel out of character somehow. So if it’s subtly done, then I would definitely buy the car.

I would say a big No.

Of course there are always exceptions, case in point the pre-facelift Mahinda Scorpio.

But I would still prefer nothing from factory. If the owner has a vision, they can always implement in the after market.
