It's not just the derriere that's wrong with the Dzire though, isn't it? The profile itself is a toss.. From a beautiful hatch to this abomination.

Speaking of bad profiles, Tata Manza is one more qualifier.

Not a car but definitely ugly!Ugliest Cars in Indian automotive history-52hf91.jpg

P.S. If making ugly cars was an art than our lord Dilip Chhabria would be the Picasso of it.

re: Ugliest Cars in Indian automotive history

I am surprised no one's mentioned Mahindra Verito Vibe yet! Verito had decent proportions, if not great looks. And Vibe? I seriously have no words.

re: Ugliest Cars in Indian automotive history

Very polarising thread this, I'm sure. I feel , though, that a truly ugly car should have nothing redeeming in its looks, and the facelifted quanto is the only one that comes to mind. I don't think those looks grew on anyone here on the forum. Did they? Please identify yourself....

Even the Zen classic which was horrible from any angle where the front was visible, had the profile and the back from the old Jelly Bean. Or the sonata, which definitely looked fine in its time. I saw the Rio too somewhere. It was small and quirky, but still well proportioned.

Toyota Vellfire

The grotesque chrome grille at the front is the ugliest bit of this car. The rest of its design is not particularly appealing either.

Everytime I see a picture of Vellfire from front, my mind makes me believe thats its an optical illusion, like something is wrong with the face and then I realise that it isn't. As Chandler from friends said " It's like somebody literally wrote down my worst nightmare and charged me $32 to see it"

7. Maruti Zen Estilo:
After the old Zen died, people were clamoring for a successor, and what did Maruti give them? An insult to everything the old Zen stood for, with the Estilo, a car which had no reason to exist in the market, given that it was just a wagonR with curves. It came in ghastly colours (like that below), and looked weak and pitiful, a car with no soul, an insult to everything the Zen badge stood for. Thankfully, they soon dropped the Zen moniker and just called it the 'Estilo'.

I actually really liked the Sonata. My uncle owned one back then and I used to be envious (in a good way) about it as a kid.

I thought the Estilo was cute, especially in some colours. I think attaching the "Zen" name to it made it flop.

Ugly from all sides.
I truly felt the same way about it, and yes it does look like a bloated Alto in pictures. Once I saw it in person on the showroom floor, and without the chrome "teeth", it truly looks decent and is a fabulous "next-step" upgrade from the the really tiny Alto.

Ohh, I forgot to add my contribution. I hated this car everytime I looked at it. The back was hideous. Glad it's dead.

re: Ugliest Cars in Indian automotive history

If only current production models are considered, first place on the podium will be shared by KUV and S-presso.
Should fight well with historical ugly duds like the A-star, Estilo and Dzire and Quanto.

Most Ugly cars:

Daewoo Matiz and Maruti Wagon-R

This thread can be closed if Daewoo Matiz is not on there. I had to scroll two pages and to my shock it wasn't there. What is wrong with people...so I had to post it

From the current cars sold in India, the rear of the Ignis is not that good looking. Its a shame considering the fact that the front of the car looks pretty decent. It feels like a last minute job.

From the cars sold a few years back, I would say the A-Star and the rear of the Brio. It was really bad.

Well, as they say looks are subjective.
I absolutely love the matiz and find Ritz/ Ignis / Eon above average lookers.

re: Ugliest Cars in Indian automotive history

One new addition from my end to this thread, the front fascia of the Kia Sonet is pretty ugly to me. I had to go for a darker color to hide all the creases and curves all over its front and side profile. The rear looks better though.

However, Hyundai Eon takes the cake for being the ugliest car!

re: Ugliest Cars in Indian automotive history

I wouldn't say ugly but Toyota definitely messed up with the Etios and Liva. They had the brand recall and the reputation just aesthetically the cars were nowhere near the competition.

Surprising because their other cars do look good, I still feel a good looking Toyota hatch can sell.

How come everyone has forgotten the Chinese imported ugly eyesore sold by Force motors as a modern SUV?! To be fair I've also forgotten it's name!
