Reducing weight from the ultra light weight swift .. My god !!
Probably the new swift will be lighter than RE bullet

They are already far ahead of the competition. Then why bother about build quality, safety , cash rating and all

Next Gen. SWIFT SPORT to debut in 2023.

Swift Sport could receive a more powerful powertrain and stiffer chassis to enhance its appeal as a subcompact hot hatch.

Re: 4th-gen Suzuki Swift to debut in 2022

I found the rear of the swift sport to be more palatable.
While the car overall looks evolutionary, the rear tailight and red strip were killing the overall look, which seems to have been rectified in the Sport.

I just hope Maruti doesn't water it down in terms of safety, and also launches the Sport in 1.4 even if in limited numbers. Sadly It's unlikely because they know it will sell well even with 0 stars and anemic engines.

Re: 4th-gen Suzuki Swift to debut in 2022

This is all I ask of Maruti Suzuki to do with the 4th Gen Swift.

1. Safety First: Suzuki, I love you guys. But please for the love of God focus on safety. Despite there being safer options in the segment the Swift is guaranteed to be in the Top 10 selling cars of any given month. That is how much not just India but people all over the world (Eastern Europe, South America etc) love the Swift and I think you owe them atleast a GNCAP rating of 4 Stars.

2. "Electrifying" new generation: The 1.2L is a proven engine no doubt, but a proper hybrid system boosting FE to 30kmpl or above and perhaps pushing power over the 100hp mark would be great.

3. In the words of Jeremy Clarkson "All you need is SPEED and POWER": Please Suzuki I beg you, please bring the Swift Sport to India. The reported 150hp would turn the Indian Hot Hatch market into a bloodbath at the hands of Swift Sport. Plus it's a Swift, if there's any name people trust as much as "Alto" and "WagonR", it's the Swift.

Be careful what you wish for. They may bring the Swift Sport to India, manufacture it here, export it from here. But won't sell it here Another wound to rub salt in after the Jimny.

Now that is a fate worse than death and yeah, Suzuki manufacturing the Jimny in India for export and then refusing to sell it in India makes me want to cry .

The Swift Sport in India can achieve what the Abarth Punto failed to do, that is push the Indian hot hatch market over the 150hp mark and take it to the next level. People really don't trust FCA in India but Suzuki? Now you're talking, it may not be easy to explain to your wife and/or parents why you want to buy a Polo GT which is almost a 10 year old design, but you'll be more successful in convincing them to buy a up market Swift. The Polo GT TSI and i20 N-Line will become unsellable overnight if the Swift Sport manufactured in India and priced around the Polo GT/i20 N-Line.

I've had a crush on Suzuki Cars ever since I started playing Gran Turismo at 3 years old and this was further amplified by the fact that we owned a 2005 WagonR for 12 years. As a result I've had a crush on the Swift Sport since the first one launched in Japan way back in Late 2005.

With how the Swift Sport is popular in places like Japan, Mexico, Europe etc, the aftermarket support would be top notch.

The 5 second video below encompasses what we Indian enthusiasts feel looking at western countries getting both the Swift Sport and the Jimny.

Re: 4th-gen Suzuki Swift to debut in 2022

Next Gen swift spied testing in Europe, to debut in late 2022/ 23.

- Code named YED, the Swift could get a platform improvement
- Definite changes in the next-generation model, which appears to be sleeker than the current-generation model.
- The biggest change is with the rear door handles that are now placed on a more conventional spot
- Hybrid system likely to be from Toyota
- Likely that a turbocharged 1.4-liter mild-hybrid setup will be used
- The Swift Sport will be introduced within a year after the standard version's debut.

the hood presents a smoother mold compared to the outgoing model's, plus the cutout of the bonnet itself differs from the A2L generation. A bigger and restyled LED headlamp configuration peeks through the concealment.

Re: 4th-gen Suzuki Swift to debut in 2022

Has some French /Nissan hatchbacks vibes.

Good that the rear concealed door handles are gone. Good from a styling POV, not desirable in real life

Re: 4th-gen Suzuki Swift to debut in 2022

Suzuki Swift Sport is scheduled to appear in spring 2023.

Modified engine:

Quote:
The current in-line 4-cylinder and 1.4-liter turbochargers have been converted into mild hybrids.
The engine itself will also be evolved by improving the compression ratio and adopting electric intake VVT and EGR, and the maximum output will be increased from 140 ps to 150 ps.
Quote:
Although it is a mild hybrid, the effect is enormous. In addition to improving fuel efficiency, there is also the effect of improving pickup by utilizing the torque of the motor in the extremely low rpm range, and not only fuel efficiency but also sportiness should be improved.
Quote:
The weight gain due to the addition of a motor is also minimized, and the "lightness" that is the characteristic of Swift Sports is maintained.
