Re: Mahindra TUV300 facelift spied sans camouflage. EDIT: Launched as Bolero Neo at Rs. 8.48 lakhs

I love this one, had my eyes ever since the TUV 300 was launched. Rugged, no-nonsense vehicle at an affordable pricing (compared to other CSUVs). Hope I own it one day.

Few features which would make it more compelling :

1. Automatic transmission (Not AMT)
2. Cornering lights (the TUV 300 had it, not sure why they deleted)
3. Rear A/c vents (must reserved for the facelift)

Re: Mahindra TUV300 facelift spied sans camouflage. EDIT: Launched as Bolero Neo at Rs. 8.48 lakhs

Apart from BS6 engine, cruise control and few cosmetic changes, it is the TUV. Most of the early TUV owners had MLD fitted ( provided they complained about wheel spin issue).
As such, few cars like punto, nano and TUV have a separate fan base. They love their car to the core.
Spares are guaranteed for my beast :-)

Cornering lights are there in the top variant, N10. They call it static bending headlamps.

Re: Mahindra TUV300 facelift spied sans camouflage. EDIT: Launched as Bolero Neo at Rs. 8.48 lakhs

Make no mistake, Bolero Neo is not competing against
monocoque sub 4m C-SUVs, even though priced in the similar price bracket. XUV3OO is doing that job for Mahindra. Ladder on frame UVs are a different breed altogether. The UVs would definitely not glide on highways as the C-SUVs do, the UVs may lack finesse, the UVs may not be sprightly or even fuel efficient but they do have the charm of their own. Talk of broken roads, luggage hauling and ambling along the undulated mud roads, the ladder on frame UVs well and truly come to the fore.

Re: Mahindra TUV300 facelift spied sans camouflage. EDIT: Launched as Bolero Neo at Rs. 8.48 lakhs

I seriously considered TUV300 AMT and test drove it the moment when it was launched.

The Ricaro sourced AMT box was horrible from the get go, there was no creep to start with,
we need to push the accelerator to move forward like a manual.
On slopes and also in bumper to bumper traffic TUV300 rolled back badly, without any engine breaking and
lack of hill assist felt. I had to hold on for hand brake at every stop and go situation.

The old AMT box is not well tuned with mHawk engine resulting in too many jerks on TUV300.

I hope Mahindra will offer the AT box similar to THAR (too much expectation) or the AMT used on XUV300 for the Bolero Neo in future.

Mahindra was working on TUV 300 upgrade and once completed they got influenced by somone who joined them from TATA and renamed this as BOLERO NEO ( Inspiration - Safari )

Maybe they plan to see how this one sells and slowly kill the Original BOLERO.

Re: Mahindra TUV300 facelift spied sans camouflage. EDIT: Launched as Bolero Neo at Rs. 8.48 lakhs

The Bolero Neo is a vehicle which has the road presence and can still fit through the tightest of lanes. To be honest, it does look good from the back end. However the front and side profile look too squarish and upright for me.

Only if Mahindra made the "square wheel-arches"(an oxymoron) rounder with this update and sorted out the shape of the rear door, along with larger set of alloys, this will be a runaway success.

It has all the right ingredients of a capable SUV(though it lacks 4x4) but fails to attract customers with its slightly quirky styling(still better than the Quanto/NuvoSport).

Mahindra’s Grill reminds me of a toothless old man. (Or woman).

(Photos quickly from DuckDuckGo search results. Copyrights to respective creators/owners. The old man I think was from stock images and the old lady from Pinterest, I think).

I think they did 6 slats to avoid 7 slats of Jeep, but I think better creative solutions can be found.

Creative solution will come from Karolbag with a proper Jeep Compass grille design.

Re: Mahindra TUV300 facelift spied sans camouflage. EDIT: Launched as Bolero Neo at Rs. 8.48 lakhs

I visited the India Garage showroom in Chennai to check out the Neo.

First impressions:

1. It is a TUV-300 (surprise!) but it looks just a bit smarter and taut in comparison.
2. Interiors are a step up from the old Bolero
3. Doors shut with a cheap feel
4. Deep step into the luggage compartment (jump seats). Opportunity to create a hidden/lockable space here to store valuables
5. The cabin is wide but the seats are pushed to either extreme. Driver has no arm/shoulder room on the right and front passenger has no arm/shoulder room on the left
6. This is worse for the driver because your elbow will keep hitting the door panel when you steer. I don't have this issue in the Polo GT / Creta / Ecosport. I don't know why there is so much room between the seats but no space on the door-side of the seats.
7. I hate the centrally located window switches
8. Steering feels nice to hold but hitting my arm/elbow on the door everytime I try to turn it will become annoying very fast.
9. Clutch feels light
10. Window sills are VERY high. I am 6'3" and it feels like I am sitting in a dark cave. Shorter passengers will need a periscope to see out.

Walked away a tad disappointed that it wasn't ticking all the boxes. If anyone else notices this lack of room on the "door-side" of the cabin, please chime in. Is it only me?

Whereas in my TUV, shutting the door shakes the whole car. The heavy doors on the TUV are a veritable murder weapon (picture Wilson Fisk smashing the Russian Bratva goon's head in with a car door, in Darevil on Netflix).

I'm 6'4" with a wide body frame at the shoulders. My right elbow does rest on the cushioned doorpad when driving, but isn't that the case on all cars? Anyhow, this hasn't bothered me or anyone else on the TUV. Wonder if they've done something different with the interiors on the Bolero Neo.

The doors don't close like they do on a VW or even the new Creta. They have a "bounce" to it. Slam it, bounces back. Push it, doesn't close completely.

The elbod hitting the door pad is when you turn the steering wheel, Not when you sit and hold the wheel dead straight. Turning the wheel there isn't much room on the right side.

Sounds like the fit and finish from the production line is a hit or miss - if the doors aren't aligned properly, they tend to bounce back.

My own TUV's rear left door does that after 3.5 years of us standing on the window sill (like people do on buses) when loading the rooftop luggage carrier; I know that I will need to get that door looked at! Initially it was alright, but its the years of abuse that's caused it in mine.

I'm drawing a blank there. One thing Mahindra did to improve the interior space at the front over the Scorpio was they thinned the TUV's doors. Not sure where I read this information; I forget that now, but the hollowed out doors are very much intended to be part of the additional space you get in the front seats.

Seat height adjustment is completely on the floor from the factory as we experienced with our T10 TUV, just pull it up to the height where the under thigh support is correct and then adjust the steering rake. You should be good now, visibility is top class. This thing is as wide as your money can get within this price, so there is no lack of room - except that you are quite tall so I'm not entirely sure of the headroom.
