The best car advertisement taglines used in India

A catchy tagline can be pivotal to any marketing strategy. The discerningly chosen yet emotionally evocative set of words goes a long way in making the product and the advertisement memorable. A few brands (or should we say advertising agencies) have mastered the art, and have embossed iconic phrases in the minds of many a petrolhead perched in front of their television sets. In fact, we've even seen a few Team-BHP ownership reports proudly using the familiar phrases as part of their thread titles.

Here's a selection of some of the best taglines used for cars in India over the years:

Glad to see the Safari at the top there.

Not only was the tagline refreshingly different, it was meaningful too and didn't come across as an unquantifiable boastful claim (like so many other taglines).

And more than anything, the advertisements depicting the average man's escape from the rat-race into nature supported the tag-line beautifully.

Can't forget the Bajaj Pulsar ad in this list of famous taglines.
"Definitely male", started a cult following.

The best tag line, for me
Tata Sierra
It takes the rough with the smooth

I hope this car can be revived, it was sheer audacity to build and sell it in those times.

A less popular choice, but I remember the Nissan Sunny's ad marketing as "it's a CAAAR".

One of my all-time favourites is Mercedes = The best or nothing. Keeping their current top form in mind, it really suits the brand too (especially cars like the S-Class):

Re: The best car advertisement taglines used in India

Tata had some excellent tag lines. Apart from the classic tag lines for Sierra and Safari, I remember one ad for the Tata Sumo with a lady driving it. The ad showed her taking on responsibilities, and the tag line "Kuch Log Sumo Chalate hain".

Can add some more memorable ones:

Bajaj Avenger: Feel like God.

KB RTZ: Ride a KB. Rule the road

Suzuki Samurai: The No Problem Bike

Hero Honda CD100: Fill it. Shut it. Forget it.

Tata Indica: More Car per Car.

Slightly OT: I was about to post this tagline, but I kind of stopped because it reminded me of another copied (inspired) tagline "Jockey or nothing" and felt awkward. May be that is how these copied ad strategy works, it's wicked weird!

Chevy Cruze's Diesel rocket tagline is the best associated with a particular model. It was like an extension of its name.

And my favorite ad in the childhood was Bajaj Caliber 115's Hoodibaba. It was so catchy that it plays in my mind even today like hoodibaba hoodibaba hoodibaba ho! Sorry if I have reminded someone else's thoughts to get bombarded too.

Re: The best car advertisement taglines used in India

On that note, I guess we have a set of ads and taglines that we will never, ever forget. I don't think anyone will forget these ads ever in their lifetime.

Tata Safari - Reclaim your life (and that absolutely haunting tune!)

Suzuki Samurai - No Problem

Bajaj Pulsar - Definitely Male (or rather "It's a BOY")

Honestly, I believe those nurses did more for the sales than anything else the Bajaj organization could ever have

Re: The best car advertisement taglines used in India

Isn't "A breed apart" the tagline of Crompton Greaves?

If there is one thing where India is ahead of other countries, it is the quality of ads. Though I must say that it was better in the 80's and 90's.

Most of the Taglines are nice. I never liked the Josh Machine one.

I totally agree with you on this statement. Ads I saw in India are quite memorable. Remember the mint ad, where eating mints helped them illuminate a village with their white teeth?

Most ads I see here in Australia are plain boring, and some are rather amateurish.
