The made-in-India Amaze, WR-V and City are being exported to South Africa (a right hand drive market) since August 2020. Honda has also been exporting these cars to Nepal and Bhutan since October last year.

With the addition of left hand drive markets, Honda is targeting a 3-fold increase in its export volumes from India.

Brilliant move by Honda. Indian car manufacturers need to leverage their production facilities with increased exports, rather than being held to ransom by domestic demand.

Good to see Honda exporting to LHD markets.

Wonder how Honda Thailand have to say about this.
AFAIK, the entrenched auto industry in Thailand was the reason why Japanese manufacturers didn't really want to export from India.

Except for Suzukis (other than Jimny, Vitara) and models like the Nissan Sunny, most affordable Japanese cars barring the luxury/high-end ones were exported from Thailand to the GCC nations.

Or is it signalling that Honda finds its India sales low and is resorting to exports for capacity utilisation

I think this is a more suitable reason for start exporting, as Honda Car India is losing in the Indian market, and with good production capacity, it is better to utilize it for other markets, where they can find the demand for their cars.
India's automotive market is highly competitive, and it is hard to survive for Japanese Care makers, especially, when they have to face Korean siblings (Hyundai & Kia)!
