Re: Govt plans to impose green tax on old polluting vehicles

Still not very clear on this. Does this mean that I can happily pay the Green Tax and drive around a 10-year old german in NCR?

Re: Govt plans to impose green tax on old polluting vehicles

When cars like the below 2 abominations (seen today on the Pune Mumbai Expressway) are allowed to spew clouds of black smoke while driving on our roads, all these green taxes and BS6.2, 6.5, 7.0 etc will end up being money making exercises for the government and nothing more, with law abiding middle class and poorer citizens paying the price as always.

An important point to ponder is what was the ‘real value’ of Rs 18,260 in 1948-1949 in comparison to the ‘real value’ of Rs 135,050 in 2019-2020.

I am hazarding the statement here that the former had far more value and purchasing power as compared to the latter.

As a tax payer, I lament the inexorable and excruciating burden we carry, and for which in return, we get NOTHING except Rhetoric overlaid with Platitudes.

In India, the ROI on the taxes paid has got to be amongst the worst in the whole world.

Re: Govt plans to impose green tax on old polluting vehicles

I believe that the tax has been bumped up enormously. For a crv I believe that it is around 60k.
Churchill predicted in the 1940's "Power will go to the hands of rascals, rogues, freebooters; They will*have*sweet tongues & silly hearts. They will fight amongst themselves for*power &*India will be lost in political squabbles. A day will come*when air & water would be taxed.
While Churchill had quite a few really bad qualities he nonetheless was very intelligent and could foresee many things accurately.
