Vedanta and Foxconn have set up a JV of a semiconductor plant near Ahmedabad in Gujarat.

The Vedanta-Foxconn joint venture is believed to have selected Gujarat for setting up its display fabrication and semiconductor facility, people aware of the discussions told ET.

“They have requested for an area of up to 1,000 acres outside of Ahmedabad as the connectivity to that area is very well established. (Vedanta-Foxconn) has also sought some other incentives and tax breaks. The discussions on these aspects are ongoing,” one of the people said.

I hope this alleviates the semiconductor shortage in India.

The news reports are very scarce and not fully verified. But apparently, the Biden administration struck a death spell on the chip industry in China last week with a new export control policy!

We were all hoping that the chip industry will limp back to normalcy by early 2023 but this news is now really worrying.
