Re: As a kid, what Indian car did you have a crush on?

When it comes to dreaming, we can definitely aspire for more than one dream car right .

My list was
1) Honda City 1.5 (The global 3rd generation) - The facelift with the 'crystal' headlights in a dark blue shade.
2) Mercedes Benz E-Class (W-124) -I still think that model looks amazing and absolutely oozes class
3) The Tata Sierra - It was an amazing looking SUV and far ahead of its time in my view.

Re: As a kid, what Indian car did you have a crush on?

As a Kid - it was the Contessa Classic
As a teen - it was the Sierra, Gypsy
As a young adult - it was the Cedia and the Safari

As an older adult now, it’s the Thar, that I am waiting for delivery. My Missus no longer wants to hear anything called ‘car’ from me anymore, although I certainly know she’s waiting to drive the Thar.

The first-gen Ford Endeavour but in black. Still in awe of how brute and butch it looks!

Re: As a kid, what Indian car did you have a crush on?

I have a list of cars I had serious crush on:

- Gypsy
- Safari
- Sumo

The best of all, the BMW E60 edition of 5 series. I feel that is the most beautiful design created for a car, just desirable when looked upon.

Re: As a kid, what Indian car did you have a crush on?

Standard 2000 and then the Contessa.

Growing up, I had a Leo Mattel model which was quite similar to the Standard 2000. While in school, the adjacent building had someone who owned one and we would gaze at that car constantly.
Dad's friend had a Contessa and looking at comfort, it was way ahead of it's peers. Of course, at that age, looks were everything, not what was under the hood or frame!!!

The same here but for purely entertaining reasons. This behemoth used to make me laugh. My Father's best friend had an adventure edition of the first gen Endeavour (don't be fooled by the word "adventure". This was a Rear Wheel Drive only edition ). I did put in a substantial amount of kilometres on it on various ocassions. The respect it commanded was on another level. He had swapped out the original horns with Ambassador horns and all one had to do was slowly creep up, give a light hoop and people would make way for the beast. Even the rude Chennai Auto-Rickshaws! The vehicle was very slow but the sound of the large turbo, the sheer length of the beast and the long throw gear lever made it absolutely hilarious and entertaining to drive. Gave one the feeling reminiscent of an old Contessa. Oh and before I forget, the rear was extremely tail happy and would step out of the line with slightly aggressive steering inputs. Surprisingly this long and not so tall truck never felt top heavy

Me too. All your photos just rekindled the old memories. Still vividly remember the newspaper ads [with the Sierra sporting the old Telcoline T logo], reading 18 till I die. Also got goosebumps watching a youtube video featuring all TML SUVs that showed a mass/gangsta entry of the Sierra. However, the feeling was more than just crush. It was and is will be my first Automotive love.

Re: As a kid, what Indian car did you have a crush on?

Standard 2000

Contessa Classic.

Used to day dream about the Contessa and how i would customize it while day dreaming in class at school

Dragon on the front wheel arch spewing fire along the side of the car on both sides, a flaming skull on the hood...fun to be a kid

Re: As a kid, what Indian car did you have a crush on?

The 1st car which really caught my eye in India was the Opel Astra. The car oozed class, especially in the navy blue colour.

As a kid, what Indian car did you have a crush on?-astra_2.jpg

The next car which I yearned for was the E46 330CI BMW ZHP. The ZHP package was a 330i with upgraded cams, 235 HP, 6800 rpm redline, a body kit, retuned suspension, with stiffer springs, dampers, anti-roll bars, and control arms. In addition, it came with an underbody cross-brace in front, and wider, sticker tires. Only 3,000 of these cars were made.

Till this day, IMHO this is the best looking BMW. Was lucky enough to own this car for a good 5 years and tracked it as well. I still dream about the way this car handled and the feedback it gave. Never experienced the same raw emotion in other BMWs. Enthusiasts may argue that the E46 M3 handled better (will not contest that), but the ZHP was the right blend of performance and comfort. Still regret not being able to import it into India.
