It's been a long time coming, but well worth the wait! As a Vento 1.2 TSI owner, I can vouch for the solidity and comfort of this car. Something so charming that we are drawn back to this car everytime. Goes on doing it's job quietly (the car is so silent in fact) without making a fuss.

These cars appeal to people who understand what a car does rather than what "it has". And gladly there are many people like that.

And there are many circles where a sedan is considered more appropriate, elegant and acceptable than a big brash SUV. There is still a niche market for that, albeit small.

The Vento has served us very well as a family car and an inter-state cruiser, we look back at it with adoration and respect. Looking forward to this new iteration.

As per some of the YouTube videos floating around the internet, the rear seat width of the Kushaq is 50 inches.
This is exactly the same as the Creta.

The bench on the Kushaq is deeply scooped out, which makes it appear narrower than it is.

I honestly don't know to be happy or sad. One one side, yes finally we will have a new * cough* vento. But, again for a car thats been in the global market for the past 3 years already, I don't know it will fair against the Koreans and the Japanese. I really don't understand VWs game plan, in futher delaying the launch? As we all know it by now, VW India will require a very good marketing strategy. Considering this is the next segment to the outgoing Vento, without a diesel, I really don't know if it makes sense to launch the car at all. Mind you, I am big fan of VW cars, own one as well.

OK. So apparently there is another Polo Sedan aka Vento in Russia. Was not aware there is different one there.

I can see a lot of resemblance to the Jetta. Hope they are trying to attract the fans of VAG. A majority of VAG fans might like the understated / timeless design, but without the TDi, will it have the same reception..?
I haven't driven a 1.0 TSi yet, but from what I understand, it makes you drive spiritedly and hence pushes the Fuel Efficiency down. So a car of this size and dynamics, aided by price of Petrol (with a tempting engine) will have enough takers? Indians known for 'Kitna Deti Hei?' factor are not properly represented by Petrol heads of this forum and hence I doubt if it would be a runaway success. Will be happy if VAG comes with some surprises to prove my opinion, WRONG

As a Vento Tsi owner, it has been flawless over last 6 years. It's a pity this looks unlikely to come with a DSG & 1.5 TSI option. Are we only left with SUVWs? Or maybe the Octavia!

This is the Skoda Slavia in Volkswagen clothing.

If and when Skoda India launches their so called premium sedan Slavia in India, this is what VW offering would look like.

Volkswagen Virtus mid-size sedan to debut in May 2022

According to Ashish Gupta, Brand Director, Volkswagen India, the Virtus mid-size sedan will debut in May 2022.



The Virtus will be based on the MQB A0-IN platform, similar to its sister car, the Skoda Slavia. It seems Volkswagen will be adopting a similar strategy for the Virtus as it did with the Taigun. The launch of the Slavia will precede the Virtus.

The Virtus is expected to be offered with the 1.0-litre and 1.5-litre turbo petrol engines. In the Slavia, these engines are rated at 113 BHP / 175 Nm and 148 BHP / 250 Nm, respectively. A 6-speed manual transmission is offered as standard with both engines. The former gets a 6-speed automatic option, while a slick 7-speed DSG is available with the 1.5L engine.

Now that Vento is getting replaced, is there a Polo equivalent getting launched? ( any news ? ). I doubt whether they will have Virtus and old Polo ( even if updated ) together.

Expecting the new gen Polo to make way soon. Common parts till B-Pillar on the exterior and the similar interiors on Virtus and New Polo might bring some economies of scale for VW.

The notorious DQ200 is the Achilles heel of Skodas and VWs for me.

I'm sure there are many lucky ones who haven't faced an issue, but I don't know anybody who hasn't run into trouble with that gearbox, ranging from Polo GT TSIs to Superbs.

It is unfortunate because the DSG is the one of the most pleasurable transmissions to drive. I'm a sedan person, and a 148HP automatic VW would have been the perfect vehicle for long drives.

If the 1.5 had a TC, or a CVT or even the new DQ381 (still dicey but far better than the DQ200), it would have been a strong contender for me.

I can see the virtus does look like the new polo from front which was launched couple of years back. I guess they migh launch a sub 4 metre variant of that polo.
