Re: Volkswagen Virtus India launch on June 9, 2022

The vitrus was unveiled on 8th March and the prices will be revealed on 9th june? 3 months between an unveil and the actual launch . Why do VW and Skoda always wait months between a product reveal and launch?

Perhaps buying out some time for Slavia to sell in decent numbers. They know there will be cannibalization, as there's a limited love for sedans.

Also, there will be heavy competition between the 1.5 siblings, as there's no real competition with the 1.5TSI twins. So let Slavia 1.5 sell for a while, my guess is Virtus 1.5 might sell more than Slavia 1.5, as its screams sporty nature inside out with looks and engine.

And also, not to forget who's in charge of VAG 2.0 in India now, a little bias to help sell their own products, maybe something like own son vs step-son treatment.

Just blatant guesses

Re: Volkswagen Virtus India launch on June 9, 2022

I heard that Skoda is also pushing its customers for 1.0 while indicating its customers that they need to wait for sometime approx. 2-3 months for the 1.5 as there is shortage and some delay in those engine combinations.
Many of the 1.5 lovers who really want it and can wait are giving time as Virtus will eventually be there for comparison.
I think VW also is facing a tough time in terms of availability of chips and due the ongoing war situation this is going to affect this for sometime though.

What a lovely shade of red! Too bad the car looks like its on toy wheels due to the high stance. Either a lowering kit or much bigger wheels would be needed to make it look normal.

Virtus blue colour spied, I have a booking in this colour and looks like I will have to rethink. I expected much sportier shade of blue, this looks very basic.

I think it should be the same shade of blue as the Rapid Onyx, maybe hold the booking until we have better res pictures.

Re: Volkswagen Virtus, now unveiled

I was going to test drive Slavia 1.5TSI MT on Monday. I was going to MT because I am a control freak and I don't trust DSGs like the rest of the world.

Now, I knew Virtus was around the corner but I thought it was going to be pretty much the same car and didn't even care to take a look. But then I did. And found out that GT line is supposed to have all blacked out interiors and it looks so much better overall compared to Slavia. And the position of engine start/stop button is sweet. But it won't have a manual transmission. And who knows when they'll finally launch it. That's a bummer.

Back to being confused. I think I'll probably just wait it out for Virtus.

Also, I wonder if GT version will be launched at the same time or later!?

Re: Volkswagen Virtus, now unveiled

I understand that the GT version is going to be available in 1.5 L TSI DSG combo. Hope it is going to be available in other colors than red too.

A DSG with a 6-year warranty should not be bad.

Any idea when it will be crash tested, and where, Global NCAP or ASEAN NCAP?

I think you can even pre-book it in different colors. Also, I believe a GT variant in blue has been spied as well.

Is the GT variant same as performance variant or is it placed above the latter with badges? And is it going to be there with the 1.0 TSI automatic also?

I also believe that the 1.5 TSI DSG may be giving decent FE.

The GT variant is simply what VW is calling their 1.5 variants. There is no difference to the chassis or ride/handling balance. It gets visual changes only, apart from the engine gearbox combo.

Yes the 1.5 DSG does give good FE. My friend has a kushaq 1.5 DSG and is easily getting 14.5 in mixed usage. He believes it should go upto 15-16 after the first service.

That's a good looking car for sure. The chrome on the rear bumper doesn't look out of place atleast on the silver; not sure about other colours. The alloys look descent, and the tyres seem to fill the wheel arches adequately. But I guess the variant seen is a 1l version, as the GT variant has black alloys.
