Service campaign for Kia Seltos

Kia Motors India has organized a service campaign for owners of the turbo-petrol variants of the Seltos.

As part of this campaign, the fuel pump in the petrol Seltos will be inspected. Kia will not replace the fuel pump but it will apparently be torqued to specification. The gearbox software will be updated in the turbo-petrol DCT variants. The update is said to improve the acceleration in first gear.

Last month, Kia had issued a service campaign for the diesel variants of the Seltos manufactured between 1 October 2019 and 13 March 2020 due to a possible faulty fuel pump.

This is what fellow Seltos owners shared after the gearbox software update on DCT.

* It's a lot smoother now in normal mode.
* While driving steep uphill and even with more than gentle throttle input, it used to stay only in 1st gear with rpm hovering around 3000-3500, revvs were much higher. But now with the update, it moves to 2nd gear and @2000 rpm. Overall, things have smoothened out.

Appears like Kia has mellowed down things a bit with DCT in specific driving conditions, giving economy a push since acceleration and quick shifts were already strong points with DCT.

Owners can chip in and confirm if any improvement in FE is observed in city driving, which is likely to happen with such tuning. DCT otherwise struggles to touch the 2 digit FE mark in driving cycles that has heavy city traffic. Would be interesting to see if there's an improvement on that front with this update.

Re: Service campaign for Kia Seltos

So the Seltos probably now has the Creta DCT tuning. The Creta was a few tenths of a second slower than the Seltos so now this should even things out.
