Skoda has partnered with Twitter India to introduce a unique 'speed challenge' game. The company claims that the game replicates the thrill of driving the Octavia vRS 245 from 0-100 km/h in 6.6 seconds.



You can try out the game on this website. All you have to do is type out a given sentence to beat the accelerating Octavia vRS 245. The result will be shown at the end of 6.6 seconds along with options to replay or tweet the score.

The best scores will get a chance to be featured across Skoda India's social media platforms. Winners will receive Skoda merchandise. The week long campaign will end on December 21, 2020.

The Octavia vRS 245 is powered by a 2.0-litre, turbocharged 4-cylinder petrol engine that produces 242 BHP and 370 Nm. The engine is paired with a 7-speed DSG dual-clutch transmission.

Also goes to show how Skoda India royally botched up the pricing of the RS 245 as against that of its predecessor. After claiming that they have sold all the India allocations, they are coming out with such tactics to rekindle the interest of Indian buyers in this overpriced sports sedan.

Looks like even the helping hand from Autocar India isn't doing much to sell off the few remaining cars. With 31st December approaching fast we can expect more of such innovative ideas.

GMail and Google Drive was down for a while and I celebrated by playing the Octavia game.

I got 82% every time I played. 'Funny' above with his 99% is an inspiration and I'll be aiming to improve my timing. Since GMail is back and running, I'll give this game a try later .

Yes, it's a scam. I programmed my keyboard to type it automatically in about 3 seconds, and it says 99% done in 6.6 seconds.

Without the macro, I only got 75%

Some insider info.
New VRS will be launching sometime in June 2021, all of them are SOLD out. Will cost around 25 lacs ex showroom.

From next year all of Skoda cars will be manufactured in India. Creta rival due in next year too. Mostly in July 2021, will be a big and grand launch. Big product for Skoda.

This game is just to keep the eyes on VRS.

Some things might change in future.

Whoa! So this means that the next gen Octavia which is scheduled to launch next year shall not be a CKD? I expect excellent pricing if true.

The next gen VRS at 25L does seem possible if the car shall be locally manufactured since the previous gen VRS 230 was launched back in 2017 for 25L.

The same goes for me. I thought that I was spelling some/last letter wrong, but on the last try completed it in 6.1 seconds or so and it still wouldn't show 100%. SO much for marketing.

Yeah, seems like a scam or intended to not be beat, eh? I tried 3 times and couldn't beat 99%. No bot or script/macro, pure typing speed.

but how exactly did you program your keyboard to do something like that? I'm straight up curious!

My kinesis freestyle edge keyboard has a microcontroller inside, that can learn macros via a companion software on the PC, or even directly via some special key combos. So it's no programming wizardry on my part, rather just a nifty feature on the keyboard, straight from the manufacturer. And because the macro is learnt directly by the keyboard without any software, it looks exactly like an actual input to any PC that the keyboard is connected to.

My friend wrote a script and got this -



He is curious as to why it wasn't possible to get 100% completion even with macros. Not being a geek in stuff like this myself, it's all flying above my head.

Tried it out of curiosity. Completed it in my first attempt without running scripts. To be honest, it felt like it took me longer than 6.6s so I wonder if their timer is legit

Possibly the S in Skoda is supposed to be Š? Try and tell.

You can type in all small letters itself. No scripts required. I was able to do it. Here is the screenshot
