Tata's new Nexon ad seems a little overboard!

Tata's new Nexon ad seems a little overboard!-screenshot_20201212152005.jpg
Tata's new ad featured a screenshot of comments and a snapshot of train ravaged by hitting the Nexon (or so they claim). Such comments are more suited to the fanboys, but the official team? Just a few weeks ago, Ford also claimed Ecosport to be way above 5Star.

Yes this was just so .
I couldn't believe a joke meme made at mocking Tata is actually used by them in official advertisement material. What on earth were they thinking. Its wrong on so many levels!
  1. If they believe that WhatsApp forward joke to be truth & thus took pride in it - hats off. I'll stop expecting intelligent content from them henceforth. The guys who made Safari campaigns must have fainted.
  2. Regardless - using a train-wreck of that magnitude in a promotional content? A train wreck with such an outcome inevitably has a lot of lives lost. Come on guys - use your head & show some sensitivity. Even if a Nexon caused it (it didn't) - you can't boast of it.
  3. What level of proof reading with a knowledgeable person goes into approving these contents is a big doubt now!
Really disappointed at this one. I hope they correct it & replace the video with those 3-4 frames cut.

Wow did they really put that train meme screenshot in an official ad? I'm shocked!

They really need to 'train' their marketing staff better.

Re: Tata's new Nexon ad seems a little overboard!

This is the ad Tata motors released yesterday. As seen at time stamp 0:36 what pops up is a meme page’s content which is absolutely misleading and wrong. Neither did the train hit the Nexon nor was this particular train picture involved in anyway to the particular Nexon!

Have a look at the comment at the bottom of the picture.

Other thing I have lately noticed is if someone buys a Kia car other than a Carnival then troll that person extensively even if that person’s family has been killed in the accident! No remorse at all from neither the maker of the meme nor the people commenting.

Overboard is an understatement. Can live with all other comments mentioned, but that train meme though :( Tata has really set the bar high in terms of safety but advertising that standard in this manner is not acceptable.

Trolls and memes these days are getting worse. Apathy is prevalent and has become a modern norm. Gud bless humanity.

Re: Tata's new Nexon ad seems a little overboard!

The Tiago and Nexon put Tata motors back on the map on the Indian Automobile scene. I also like the friendly banter and subtle digs at other car brands in their ads. Its not wrong to be confident. Especially when you have a stellar product.

But this is just juvenile. I mean no offense. But who would actually believe that ? The pic shows atleast three train compartments overturned ! Seriously ?

Off topic : Internet fanboys of Tata are a real menace. They will call you names and will socially lynch for posting even small issues of the cars and mock all other cars other than Tata. They hate Team-BHP for pointing out the niggles in reviews. I just came out of all the ownership groups.

Wow this wasn't expected from the same company that made the revolutionary Safari ad. Enough said.

Forget the remorse part, do these people even know about the severity of the accident? By the looks of it, the accident is quite serious. And who's to say that having a XUV300 would've made the outcome any better in this situation? Beyond a certain limit however highly rated your car is, it simply cannot protect you. Instilling the idea that driving in 5 star rated cars is equivalent to driving in tanks is downright stupid.

Agree, they are just cheapening their accomplishments.

Maybe they wanted to encourage the Youtubers but they should find some other way and while doing so educate them a bit about the technicalities of crash and its testing.
And how road accidents have too many variables to consider to declare something safe or unsafe.

While I can choose to not watch a video which has these "clickbait" thumbnails but an ad from Tata highlighting them isn't done. They are reducing them to those levels.

Just replacing that screen with the crash stats or the image of the crashed cars at GNCAP with the tagline would go a long way in not just highlighting their initiative but also educating people.

Yup, probably they were too full of the accolades given to them after those brilliant and witty nudges to the S-Presso and WagonR.

Tata should now focus more on refining their engines and fit and finish quality. Wooing customers by their quality and safety standards should be their goal rather than being smug about their safety and not progressing on quality and refinement.
They make excellent suspensions and structures but their petrols still sound and feel like diesels.

Their sales numbers even after the recent increase are still far behind the market leaders. And it would take just a concerted effort in improving safety from Maruti and the likes to hit them out of the charts(whether it happens or not is another story).

They should take pride in their safety accomplishments but boasting about it like this runs the risk of shortshifting on other goals.

Tata should avoid this and focus on getting us a brilliant Altroz Turbo

Re: Tata's new Nexon ad seems a little overboard!

Someone at TATA made they same mistake we are probably making now - paying too much attention to memes!

Most memes show the inherent bias of the poster. Worth the occasional laugh and not much more!

Re: Tata's new Nexon ad seems a little overboard!

In an country full of WhatsApp university graduates, this whole campaign for safety seems to backfire in few ways. For many, 5 star = immortality and anything less than 3 star is certain death and the owners of these cars needs some bullying.

Along with this logic, they don't forget to sprinkle some patriotism and support for our home grown brands. Where were these geniuses when Etios and Polo had good rating almost an decade back!

As an ex-tigor owner, I know where they have cut corners for this whole safety conscious image.

This is so cringe worthy!

Why are they digging a hole for themselves!?

Or does it work like any publicity is good publicity?

It is in very poor taste. A fine line between funny and stupid!

Re: Tata's new Nexon ad seems a little overboard!

Wow! The Instagram and Facebook fan page toxicity is now making it's way to official promotions?

Also isn't it a crime to make misleading advertisements?
If I remember correctly, False or misleading advertisements, or advertisements that create false associations, are prohibited by law, namely the Trademarks Act, the Consumer Protection Act and the ASCI Code.

The train thing reminds me of a Fiat Palio touched by a train and members here going gaga over build quality

Now for a company to use something that fanboys post is a new low.
