It is illegal to use bolts or screws on HSRP, and you will be fined for it. Get the HSRP riveted.

The Maharashtra transport commissioner's office has now extended the deadline for installing HSRP to June 30, 2025.

Here is the official statement.
IMO, even 30th June won't be sufficient and the deadline will be extended further.

Validating on Vahan portal :
Today I check the portal, but didn't find any reference of plates installed. My method :

Vahan Portal --> Vehicle Related Service --> Enter State ---> Enter Reg Nu --> (top menu) Services --> Additional Services --> Know Your Vehicle --> Enter Reg Nu, Chassis & Engine nu ( in full) --> click for OTP on the registered number (shown as masked) --> A page will show entire details of the vehicle (eg. Specs, Registration, Insur
ance), and a section "HSRP Details :", but in my case for this scooter its showing "Not Available" ( I hope this would get updated soon)

(for my recently purchased bike, this portal section is properly updated with details of plate serial for front & back, and installation date. I recall that after few days of taking delivery of bike, I had visited dealer plate for the hsrp installation).

PS: do let know if any other process to validate on the Vahan portal ??

There is a possibility that the dealership who installed the plates has not updated your vehicle photos on the vendor portal (i.e Realmazon, Rosmerta website)

That is why the Know Your Vehicle page shows 'Not available'

I installed my places on 15 Feb, however, at that time, they fitted it with the old screws and not with rivet.

Post that curiosity led me to just keep on noticing all the 2 wheelers on the roads and almost 99% of the scooters/cars which had HSRP plates had rivets, which made me feel I might get stopped with screws holding the plates instead of rivets.

I went back to the dealership on 9th March and informed them that I wanted to fir the plates with rivets for my 2 scooters.
I also asked the person that should I be receiving a message from Rosmerta/mParivahan stating that the plates have been installed.
He said yes indeed.

I had never received any messages and told him the same.
He checked his system on the Rosmerta portal and indeed, they had never uploaded the images of the front/back plates pre and post installation.

He did that immediately infront of me and once he clicked on Submit, I received a almost instantly regarding the plates being fitted.

Then today when I saw your path on how to check the HSRP laser tags, I saw for both vehicles that it shows 9th March (the day the dealer uploaded the images infront of me).

Thus in your case, I believe due to excessive fitments, they might have forotten to upload on the portal because there should be no delay and it reflects immediately.

Suggestion to go back to the dealership and talk to them. They will check the system and confirm if it is actually uploaded or not.

Hope this helps.

Hi Guys,

Can someone share the link to order HSRP plates?

Keep your vehicle registration card handy when you register on the link, you will need to enter your engine number etc.

Cheers

P.S. This applies only for Maharashtra, won’t help you since your location shows Salem.

Thank you.

I am looking to order for Tamil Nadu since my vehicle is TN registered.

One of my vehicle is also TN registered. TN has not made it mandatory for older vehicles and hence not put in place a process.

Why would you want such a plate in the first place ? Curious.

Does anyone know if the HSRP windshield glass sticker needs to be clearly visible ? I'm asking because I would prefer sticking it on the black dotted area around the IRVM like I have done with my Fastag. It's visible but not clearly.

I'm asking because for some reason whenever I'm trying to stick something to the glass (like the Fastag) it feels as though it will obscure my view, however slightly if it were to be stuck in an open area.

I have a Polo GT and while the glass is large, due to the angle, your actual viewing area isn't that big. I have actually bought a dashcam but haven't installed it yet because I can't decide on a position for it.

Yes, it needs to be clearly visible. Typically it's installed on the passenger side top left corner, or slightly below along the A pillar. It's got your vehicle number, fuel type, and serial numbers of your front and rear HSRPs on it. Needs to be clearly visible.

The standard location for the HS sticker is the top left hand corner of the front windshield. I would recommend not sticking at any other location. It cannot be removed once done. If any parts of the HSRP kit is damaged i.e. either the plates or the sticker you may need to apply for a new set and that entails filing a report with the cops and jumping through multiple hoops.

Leave well enough alone and do not deviate from the recommended procedure.

My experience getting an HSRP replacement plate online for my Ignis

Right now the car is stationed at Bengaluru and the cops here just need a reason to stop, check and fine. No matter the reason, they aren't ready to listen.

So thought I would invest in the number plate rather than paying bribes/fines.

In fact my car was stopped here (Bangalore) for the same reason. My daughter was driving. She reasoned with the cop that it is a TN thing and they have not made it mandatory. He insisted she pay a fine. She insisted on him to raise a challan so that she can go to RTO and get it cancelled. After several arguments to and fro he let her go. The cop was looking for a fast one, of course.

My MH car was also stopped in Bangalore for the same reason a few years before and MH had not mandated HSRPs at that time.

I suggest to just get the HSRP look alike IND plates. That will serve as a stop gap measure till HSRPs will be rolled out officially.

Just a doubt, my Tigor has HSRP plates but the third registration sticker is not there on the windshield.
Bought the Tigor used and someone (dealer) probably peeled it off and kept it in the glove compartment.
It's not possible to stick it now.

Is the sticker really mandatory? I know cops are going to stop and ask for a bribe for any reason once the deadline is over.
I see Rosmerta website has an option to book 'Only Color Sticker'

Is that the third registration sticker?
Should I order it or the HSRP number plate is good enough?
