Alen, facing the same problem. I have raised a ticket on the vaahan site for this issue.

It is an unhandled exception in bootstrap.js, BTW!

Thanks for the update. Let me know if you get a response. I'm hoping I don't need to visit the RTO for this.

How do you validate that it has been updated on Vahan? Does Vahan need updating that HSRP plates and stickers have been fixed to the vehicle? I am missing this piece of information as I don't remember if I got an SMS.

Re: High security registration plates (HSRP) in India

Deceptively easy in West Bengal- Calcutta !
Asked the local driving school, and they said, sure , we will get it for you !

Gave a photocopy of RC, and they got the set for an exorbitant fee -- 1700/- precisely. Had also promised to send "fixer" to car location, but backed out later ! Pointed me towards a mechanic in a roadside workshop who does it . Still, I avoided all the hassles connected with RTO visits etc.

Fixed the plates myself with same screws and bolts ! In fact, ruined the rear plate on Gypsy, as the original board is squarish, but all car plates are now longish.
So the HSRP juts out on both sides of the Gypsy back-board. On second thoughts, refitted with one of those plastic frames from Amazon. Rather than have four holes on the rear HSRP, bought another from Amazon (without the etched serial, but with hologram etc.). Wrote the serial myself with a black pen.

Looking smart and running fine now. The best part is that the longish rear HSRP covers the exhaust tip, so I have an electric vehicle now !
Pollution testers are confused ! Thinking of getting green plates now, again from Amazon.

If cops ever catch me and find out the bolts in place of rivets, I shall get the rivets done myself, as I have a hand-punch, again from Amazon. Till then, it is low secutity (LSRP) .

Got both plates for my 1980 Yezdi 250 cc bike from Amazon, and fixed them myself.

Confirmation is via an SMS. I got it once the HSRP vendor uploaded pics of the HSRP plates and the old ones.

Re: High security registration plates (HSRP) in India

Got my new HSRP plates installed today. Completely smooth process from online booking and payment to actual plate installation at their Lower Parel center.

Only issue is on the rear plate, somehow the screw was not cut properly and left a protrusion. They tried to saw it off with a tiny saw but its still left a sharp edge. I’m taking it back tomorrow when they’ll give it another shot to clean up and round off the screw that’s jutting out just a bit.

Now gotta get it done for my mum’s June 2018 Grand i10 too before the March end deadline.

Update: Got a pic of the offending rivet that was mucked up in installation. Let’s see if they can fix it today. It’s creating a sharp surface that can possibly hurt someone while cleaning the car.

Re: High security registration plates (HSRP) in India

The Vahan website seems to down since about 3 days now! Was trying to link the mobile number to the RC for a few of my cousins, but unable to access the website. Tried accessing from multiple devices and internet providers too while trying to figure out the culprit, but to no avail! Seems the server at the govt end itself is the problem.

Re: High security registration plates (HSRP) in India

I am planning to book the HSRP for my RE Thunderbird Twinspark (TBTS), which I bought in March 2009. None of the documents I received at the time of purchase indicate BS-II or III.

I see that BS III was applicable for 2/3 wheelers from April 2010, but it is possible that this RE Thunderbird Twinspark could be BS III as RE started TBTS with UCE in 2009 itself.

If anyone needs a reference image - I stumbled upon this post, which has exactly the same version - https://www.team-bhp.com/forum/motor...ml#post2691612 (Take 3 - 2009 Royal Enfield Thunderbird (Ownership Experience))

Does anyone confidently know the answer to this question of BS-II or III? Or does it even matter for HSRP?

BS3 was launched in many parts of India circa 2005. By 2010 it was launched pan India. If you bought and registered in metro/submetro cities, you will have a BS3. My cast iron Electra (with PAV- pulse air valve and aux air intake screw), registered in 2006 in Pune is BS3.

However, it should not matter for HSRP if your vehicle has a valid RC.

Cheers,
-BJ

Perfect answer! Thank you so much...

Mine was registered in Pune in March 2009.
I do have a valid (and renewed RC as well); I will go ahead and book the HSRP.

Re: High security registration plates (HSRP) in India

A quick look at the Maharashtra government fixed rates for HSRP visavis some other states. As per the notification by the government these have to be changed over to, before 31.03.25. But given the sheer numbers ( about 2 crore vehicles) and the people and processes involved, this deadline should need extensions for at least three to four times spanning till sometime in 2026 for a *"strict"* last deadline. The Karnataka example is afresh on our minds where the latest 2025 deadline has been fixed now after at least 3 or 4 extensions.

Coming to the official rates for cars these are :-

*Gujarat Rs 460*, *Goa Rs 203*, *Punjab Rs 594.72* (who carries Rs 0.02 change?), *Andhra Pradesh Rs 619*. For *Maharashtra* the corresponding rate is *Rs 745*.

Janmanch, Nagpur, a NGO has complied a comparative chart ( newsitem below) comparing similar figures for other categories of motor vehicles. They have released a pressnote asking for rationalisation of the rates. Very soon, maybe a PIL is filed in the High Court by some activist.

The Maharashtra government appears to be unaware of charges levied by other states or is it pleading blissful ignorance?

Re: High security registration plates (HSRP) in India

Hi Guys,

My dad has a Kawasaki bike which was bought in 1987. He has been renewing registration diligently and recently even digitized his RC Book past 20+ years.
Since the bike is old, the registration number starts with BLK but it is actually registered to Mumbai west RTO(MH02).

The portal - https://maharashtrahsrp.com/book_your_hsrp.php, doesn't accept a registration number starting with anything other than MH.

Any idea how to get new number plates for such an old vehicle?

Re: High security registration plates (HSRP) in India

Got the HSRP and security sticker installed yesterday.

Rivets could not be fitted as the plate fixing holes are for a 10mm bolt and the rivets only work if the hole is 8mm as is now standardised with newer cars.

@adit504 - you may need to reregister the bike and get a new registration number.

Just ordered again today and the order had gone through without any issue.

Paid: 900 INR

The fitment center is Deccan Honda Pimpri and date for 27th Feb. Strangely this dealership has been permanently close few years back.

Did Anybody experience HSRP fitment in Pimpri-Chinchwad (MH14)?
