Mahindra is said to be in the process of changing its logo.

We don’t know how the new logo will look like, but we have been told that it is a totally new design. It will first appear on the upcoming XUV500 and subsequently on the new Scorpio, KUV100 and on the S210 electric car as well.

At present, the Mahindra Automotive logo is an oval with three lines forming an ‘M’ in the centre. This logo was adopted in the year 2000 following the reorganisation of the company by the then Managing Director, Anand Mahindra.

The new logo first appeared on the Scorpio in 2002.

The biggest takeaway for me is that there will be a new KUV100.
I would have thought Mahindra would have learned their lesson, but apparently not.

M&M protects its sub-brands. They don't discontinue brands even if the first iteration is a failure. The concept of KUV100 was not bad. The execution was bad, but they can fix it in the next generation. I like that strategy compared to the TML strategy where they invent brand names every 3-4 years.

I don't think the logo change is needed though. Spending money on stuff that makes little difference at a time when they are facing an onslaught from foreign brands does not look like a good idea. They should spend that money on fixing their quality control process. That's all they need to regain 3rd place. They already have a great product pipeline.

One manufacturer who IMO needs a logo change in order to shed their taxi image is in no hurry but the manufacturer whose logo is alright wants to change. Interesting times. I for one have no issue with the current logo but I do wish it does not devolve into the 'minimalist' 2D stuff that VW , BMW, Nissan etc are coming out with.

Good thing because the current Mahindra logo is suspiciously similar to the Oldsmobile logo.

Probably a good thing.

May be the new logo can be reserved to certain segments instead of the same logo for a ~50,000/- Scooter to ~40 Lakhs Alturas and spanning across scooters, bikes, 4 wheelers and construction equipment's.

Hello Team,

Came across the post where it has been mentioned that Mahindra would be coming up with a new logo. Just wanted to share the concept behind the current Mahindra “M” logo.

So basically, the M denotes a “Way Forward” which was actually a painting done by a child which was seen by Mr. Anand Mahindra. It was then designed to show “M” as well as “way forward”.

This was included in their guidelines – MQS – Mahindra Quality Systems. The actual image was a part of the MQS Manual as the logo to the guideline.

The below image is the painting done by the child:

Definitely a good move. An asymmetrical logo is not the most pleasing to look at, especially when placed prominently.

Yesterday, i was on the road, after reading the thread on large decals. Happened to see a new creta, with the name written in big, bold letters at the rear, which is full of odd shaped lights. On a rear which is odd to begin with, the hyundai logo appeared more so with the font and the slant to the right. Same applies to Mahindra too.

Every Mahindra design is suspiciously similar to something else.agree:
Bolero, Scorpio, TUV's grill, Photocopy of Wrangler etc. The list is long.:Frustrati

This was not the need of the hour. Mahindra logo was fine anyhow and I don't understand what more they can actually add to the existing logo, both design wise and concept wise.

The one who needs a logo change is TATA I would say. I would love to see T-A-T-A written on the grill instead of their T logo, especially on their bigger SUVs, and let them retain the T logo on their smaller cars. But yes at times your logo is your pride and TATA is hesitant to change their historical T logo. :)

I am not a big fan of logo changes, though I must admit the Mahindra needs it.

For Tata, I would not change it. For a salt to steel conglomerate associated with our country from time immemorial, the logo has a certain old world charm and stands for trust.

How about copying the Logo too?

Looks familiar? Inverted VW logo to become Mahindra Auto :p

Definitely saves tonnes of money and time. Might have to fight at court though.

This is good news and I really hope Tata follows suit

The logos do seem to be outdated now.

I hope they don’t go to the same team that designed Vodafone-Idea logo.

As far as I know the logo will have more Straight Lines than curves ;) and we can see it very soon in the next gen XUV 500.
