Re: Light vs dark-coloured interiors

I prefer lighter shades as it feels visually appealing and the sense of space(especially on long drives). However maintaining beige takes more effort as compared to dark interior where things can go unnoticed.

However not a FAN of complete beige interiors(Ertiga had beige floormat as well). A sensible mix of beige and black is what i enjoy(Corolla altis, is just perfect in that aspect)

Re: Light vs dark-coloured interiors

I prefer the black interiors in my cars, however it does make the interiors feel a tad smaller.
The biggest irritant about beige interiors is getting the right colour & contrast - such as the Corolla Altis with it's yellow-ish beige interiors.
However, a more Ivory tone with black dash top & handles looks amazing; as also a nice tan & dark brown leather - would be my pick along with black.

Re: Light vs dark-coloured interiors

Voted does not matter as I like both depending on the type of the car and the location. I would prefer darker interiors in India where it is difficult to maintain light colours due to the weather.

I like the beige and black combo in my Range Rover Sport, but also love the black interiors of my Thar.

Voted for dark colors.

Agree to the spaciousness of light color , so would suggest go for proper length car with sporty dark interiors to get the space

Re: Light vs dark-coloured interiors

Dark, In specific Black interiors. Absolutely no competition.

There is another pro, beige fascia reflect sunlight badly. Not that it won't happen in a black fascia car, it is largely controlled. The 1st gen i10 was an absolute nightmare in this regard.

Re: Light vs dark-coloured interiors

I voted for dark-colored interiors. I am not a big fan of pure black interiors as a lot of cars on sale today go for black-colored interiors hence I simply got tired of them. While white-colored interiors like that on the Compass is gorgeous and seemingly more luxurious than its darker counterparts, the amount of dedication required to maintain it in the long-term takes away some of the fun in the experience (huge respect to anyone who is able to have their car's light-colored interiors look at least 85% of what it looked like when new). The only reason I voted for dark-colored interiors is that I am a big fan of Tata Harrier's dark brown interiors. It looks absolutely brilliant and in my opinion, looks very luxurious. Whether it be in BMWs or even Porsche's, some sort of brown-colored interiors suit my taste. I've always felt like brown interiors are in a class of their own and its probably why despite liking the looks of the Harrier dark edition, I would still go for red or white as they offer the brown interiors rather than the pure black interiors.

Re: Light vs dark-coloured interiors

Dark colours purely for hiding dirt more easily. India is not a place for light interiors.

I can accept light interiors on sedans if I have to but putting it on off-roaders like the Endeavour or Compass is just a very silly move.

But honestly it depends on the car.
I prefer dark interiors in a Mini or in a 3 Series, black interiors feel right at home in sporty cars. I'd prefer the beige interiors in something like an E class, it makes the car feel more luxurious and opulent.

Re: Light vs dark-coloured interiors

Dual tone black and beige is IMO the best option for smaller cars, sedans and even csuv's. Can't understand this newfound love for black interiors- even high quality black interiors like those in the merc e class taxis in europe look pedestrian compared to our black and beige e class trims in India.

Re: Light vs dark-coloured interiors

Voted for depends on the car.

I have a problem with full beige interiors like all door panels, dashboard, steering, gear lever, etc. With use these are sure to get soiled! I would rather prefer a mix of beige and black rather than full black or full beige.

But the best one are those tan seats and door pads fabric in the Crysta, it gives a nice balance and they have added another lighter colour now called ‘camel’ in addition to the tan. No wonder the the tan in the Crysta is so famous that almost all accessory shops convert base variants seats to this colour to increase the premium feel.

Re: Light vs dark-coloured interiors

Dark coloured interiors for me any day, preferably black. I am a sucker for neat and clean interiors and in Indian conditions, its very difficult to maintain a beige/light colour interior shade. Moreover I just love black colour for interiors. This is one of the reasons I got a full black seat cover in my WagonR on day one, even when dual tone interiors were trending those days. I absolutely hate the beige colour on the dashboards of the WagonR and Celerio. The Ciaz in top trim is the only Maruti where beige actually looks good (to me).

Re: Light vs dark-coloured interiors

Voted for light-colored interiors (definitely in the minority looking at the poll results right now).

However, it's a purely personal preference where the heart will always rule over the mind when it comes to making a choice.

And though I would prefer a complete light colored interior as compared to a complete dark interior, both my cars (i10 and the new Creta) have had dual-tone interiors with more of the lighter shade.

Having said so, both my cars have dark exteriors (carbon gray for i10 and phantom black for the Creta), but that's a discussion for another poll altogether.

"Sporty Pretensions" - That made my day! The right word for cars that try to look sporty on just enough engines.

Re: Light vs dark-coloured interiors

When I had a car with beige interiors, I thought it would make sense to have black interiors, seeing all the other cars (in pictures with black interiors); then when I bought S Cross with black interiors, it came to my sense that it was bit gloomy inside, and the cheap plastic quality shows off in the dark shade.
Now my inference is it all depends on the glass area and how things are done.

Re: Light vs dark-coloured interiors

Darker interiors anyday give a more sporty look to the car. Also helps to avoid stains etc. which is a pain to maintain with lighter interiors.

My ecosport came with black and grey interiors, and to be honest, I never liked that dull grey look, especially the seats.

Also, while the darker interiors look great, if it's too plasticky in touch, it doesn't give a good feeling. And hard plastics on dash top also give a bad reflection on the windshield under harsh sunlight. It's another thing if it's dark leather wrapped with dual stitching, that's some design and looks smashing.
