November 2020: PV sales India initial figures

The eagerly awaited November month PV sale (dispatch) figures are out. This time it was more anticipated because of the curiosity whether the sale rebound reported last month will continue or subdue just as a interim festive spike.

So it seems that the demand for personal mobility due to pandemic is helping manufacturers in testing times.

Top 5:

Maruti Suzuki's sales goes down and the market share.

Hyundai's position remains same with a 9% YoY growth.

Tata: Holding on to the third spot (for now), Kia breathing down the neck.

Kia Motors: Phenomenal response for Sonet (~11400 units), Seltos managed around 9k units and Carnival about 400 units.

Mahindra: Yet to reap on the Thar's response, but getting back to 3rd spot by just the Thar is not possible.

P.S - MG records highest ever sale figures due to Hector's 3426 units + Gloster's 627 units and 110 ZS EV units. (This is retail figure as mentioned). Gloster sells same number as Endeavour, even if its the initial mad rush it's good.

Kia Sonet dominates compact SUV segment in Nov 2020

Kia Sonet sales remained strong in the month of November 2020. The carmaker sold 11,417 units, dominating the compact SUV segment.

Kia’s total sales during the month stood at 21,022 units, registering a growth of 50% over the same period last year.

Besides the Sonet, sales numbers of the Seltos also remained in the positive. The carmaker dispatched 9,205 units in November 2020.

Kia entered the Indian market with the Seltos crossover. Earlier this year, the South Korean bran introduced the Sonet in the sub-4 meter SUV segment. It shares its underpinnings with the Hyundai Venue. Kia also offers the Carnival MPV in India.

Re: November 2020: PV sales India initial figures

I wish Honda has a good sub 4 meter SUV instead of the padded up Jazz called WRV which don't sell. They also don't have a Creta rival and survived only due to Amaze and City. They really need to introduce good vehicles in these categories to increase their market segment using the brilliant iVtec and iDtec engines. I would love to upgrade my City for a Creta/Seltos rival with the 1.5 iVtec powering the same.

Re: November 2020: PV sales India initial figures

We need to wait and see if these numbers can sustain in next few months. Reduction in numbers is seen in Nov 20 in comparison to Oct 20 except for MG and Kia. However, growth seems to be decent in comparison to the same month last year for Tata, Honda, Kia, MG and Mahindra. I was expecting better from Mahindra this month with the new Thar. There was a report on Bloomberg Quint with the title How Supply Chain Issues Killed Mahindra & Mahindra’s Festive Buzz.
