Audi S5 Sportback to be launched around Diwali. EDIT: Launched at Rs. 79.06 lakh

Earlier today, Audi launched the Q2 SUV in India. During the launch event, the carmaker also teased the next model that it plans to introduce in the Indian market - the S5 Sportback. It will be launched around Diwali.

The S5 Sportback is a four-door coupe. It features Audi's single-frame grille and has an overall sporty look. The car rides on 19-inch alloy wheels and has quad exhausts. It also has pillar-less doors. On the inside, it gets the usual set of features including a touchscreen infotainment head-unit and a digital instrument cluster.

Powering the S5 Sportback is a 3.0-litre, turbo petrol engine that produces 349 BHP and 500 Nm. The engine is mated to an 8-speed automatic transmission. The car comes with four driving modes - comfort, auto, dynamic and individual. Audi claims that the S5 Sportback can accelerate from 0-100 km/h in 4.5 seconds.

Audi has listed the S5 Sportback on its Indian website. The car was teased during the launch of the Q2 SUV.

I hope that Audi price this one more sensibly.
The Q2 with its obscene pricing has already killed any potential sales.
The S5 sportback is a seriously good looking car and the performance numbers do justice to its nametag.
I do hope they keep it around 75L on road to have any meaningful shot at good sales numbers.

Audi India has teased the S5 Sportback, it is expected to be launched in March 2021 and will get a 3.0-litre V6 TFSI engine which produces 354 hp and 500 Nm. 0-100 kmph is done in just 4.7 seconds.

So going by Audi's initial teaser of the Audi A4 where they had coyly revealed the pricing in the number plate, the S5 should be INR 53.02 lakh ex-showroom India!

Much better-looking car than the 340i, but knowing Audi and the fact that this is a CBU means the price is likely to be 75-80L ex showroom and that will make it a very hard sell against the 340i. Performance-wise, the 340i will blow this away.

This review is disgustingly biased.

Sad how journos are letting go of their credibility at the cost of "Exclusivity"

The S5 feels more special than the 3 series as there is no A5 in India. However a 10 lakh rupee premium is just not going to work for the market. Audi India as usual getting it wrong with their pricing and strategy. Even if it doesn't justify assembling it in India, they out to price it at a 5% premium to the BMW to make it move off the shelf.

This car is dead on arrival IMO
