Skoda India launches ‘Certified Pre-Owned’ used car programme

Skoda has entered the used car market in India. The company has introduced a 'Certified Pre-Owned' programme in nine regions including Mumbai, Delhi (NCR), Coimbatore, Jaipur, Ahmedabad, Surat, Vadodara, Hyderabad, and Goa. The nationwide rollout of the programme has been scheduled in 2021.

Skoda claims that the vehicles under the programme have been handpicked and assessed by trained professionals. These vehicles have undergone a set of 160 plus points of inspection, and wherever necessitated, been restored using genuine parts and accessories. They will come with a warranty of 24 months or 1,50,000 km (whichever is earlier).

The programme will also include non-Skoda automobiles which can be purchased with a warranty of up to 12 months or 15,000 kilometres. Customers can trade in their old car (that may or may not be a Skoda), and avail exchange bonuses on the purchase of a new Skoda vehicle.

Customers can opt for emergency roadside assistance that is available 24 hours a day and 365 days a year. The programme also offers insurance and finance schemes, complimentary transfer of ownership documents, access to complete service history, mileage assurance certificate and more services.

Re: Skoda India launches ‘Certified Pre-Owned’ used car programme

This is a good initiative. Buying a pre-owned Skoda is always a worry due to the high maintenance and repair costs. So a certified car can help give some peace of mind. Could not find the fine print though on what cars are eligible for the warranty-age/km etc.

Looks like the website is half-baked currently. No real info and when I selected location as Bangalore (although as per the article Bangalore is not in the initial roll out), I got this

I came here to post the exact same thing. Instead of calling it "half-baked", we should probably call it "pre-baked"

On a different note, for the warranty, are there any exclusions on the parts (under genuine conditions) - for example, no mods/remaps, tranny not included etc?

Good Move Skoda. Skoda/VW with warranty will be a relief for buyers.

But the website can be made secure

I've seen startups with 10,000 rupees in the bank & a bedroom as an office launch better websites . Whoever is in charge of this pre-owned portal should be fired!

Not a single car on sale?

Sell "you" car? Couldn't they like hire a proofreader? What an appalling lack of attention-to-detail:

This is quite reassuring.

I am assuming the 1,50,000 km would be the odo reading and not the usage.

If it is the usage, my sense is 24 months would equate to a max. of 60,000km.

Also, I hope that RSA never needs to be used. eg. nobody would want to see an injector failure in 24,000km.

The program would work even better if there is an assured buyback thrown in.

I assume in Skoda lingo, that means a wheel or two missing, dead AC compressor and a timing chain on it's last legs (links).

The state of this "pre-alpha tech demo" is appalling, but in last 2.5 years of a Skoda ownership, I've learnt that this is the norm.

Interview with Skoda's Zac Hollis on this subject, looks like he is covering most questions in this session.

I unequivocally agree. This is unacceptable by any standard.

I wonder if they would even be able to get away with something as careless and impetuous as this in Europe for instance.

Well the website link provided above is already down, hopefully they will have better quality control on the actual vehicles.

Nothing is going Skoda's way it seems. They're trying really hard but somehow something or the the other always spoils the party. Good initiative though and I am really looking forward to how well they are going to implement it.

Re: Skoda India launches ‘Certified Pre-Owned’ used car programme

If this is Skoda 2.0, then 1.0 was way better

Skoda/VW really need to get their act together, honestly I'm disappointed with them launching 1 litre Petrols with TC gearboxes. Hard to imagine that its the same group that got us hooked on to TSI+DSG combos even in hatchbacks.

Apart from what others have mentioned, WHERE ARE THE THUMBNAILS!?

I tried reloading the website again and again in both chrome and Microsoft Edge. A new initiative, and the first glimpse is this PATHETIC! Best of luck SKODA, you'll need it in truckloads.

I really want SKODA India to perform well and stay in business. They really should restructure the whole system, at least for India.

Very uninspiring first impression - I was keen to look for any certified Kodiaqs.

Looks like they are using us as testers
