I am at loss of words learning the amount of creativity Renault is showcasing here. Cry! Cringe.

In these segments, how much of a real benefit do such "limited editions" bring for the car makers? I suspect the SPresso must be giving the Kwid a run for the money in sales already.

Limited editions used to be quite cost effective in the past and used to load up some good features in the otherwise low-on-kit variants. Now a 30K price bump for what is more or less just a cosmetic job, doesn't seem like a very bright idea to me at least.

Unfortunately, there doesn't seem to be anything neo in tech apart from the neotech badging. Looks like just another bi-annual cool sticker job.

Enough to make it worth the effort. A dealer friend says that some bling & "limited edition" appeal can draw newbie car buyers. Maruti understands this kind of customer the best & just see how many limited editions they bring out.

Another benefit to Renault is 3 - 5 crore rupees worth of free publicity. Forget car websites like us, even Times of India & Hindustan Times have covered this edition. Keeps the model in the "news", literally. Better than being out of sight & out of mind.

Enough features to appeal to the target segment.

The Kwid is suddenly back in the news with this Limited Ed.

The third picture in the opening post makes this limited edition quite close to resembling a mini Nexon - Harrier combo with its colour tone and placement of lights.

Are headlights in the bumpers the new norm?

My guess is yes, until slim led headlights become affordable.

Everyone seems to like the look of the ‘slim’ lights next to the front grill. Only a matter of time until the full headlights fit in that area and all vehicles have this kind of look. Until then bumper headlights is the compromise.

The other trend I see is really big front grills (all new Hyundais, the new BMW). I wonder if it’s ICE manufacturers holding on to it as a differentiator to electric cars. Probably a bit of a stretch

Re: Renault Kwid Neotech Edition launched

Even a newbie who takes a test drive in a Maruti powered by K series engine and jumps in to the Kwid after, can feel the stark difference in NVH, refinement and driveability. Till Renault do some actual work on the motor they will struggle to compete. Recently took a test drive in a S Presso and Kwid back to back with a friend for his first car purchase and he just ruled out Kwid as soon as he drove half a kilometre in the kwid.

Manufacturers think they can fool the customers with Botox jobs alone but the customer is very smart today. Kwid has so many strengths but the engine and the overall durability of the product lets it down massively.

Any press is good press (as popularized by some celebrities/leaders)

I know these facelifts cost hardly any money from a design POV, but what about keeping spares? The companies have to maintain a separate inventory of special headlights and bumpers which could hurt their balance sheet.
