re: India-bound 2021 Mercedes E-Class LWB facelift revealed. EDIT: Launched at Rs. 63.60 Lakh

Amazing to see this new campaign! The aggressiveness of Mercedes India for their E class line-up is quite evident and quite frankly welcomed. I feel with such a diverse lineup Mercedes wants to make their E class 'the car' in its segment.

Was wondering if the LWB version of the E class comes with more 'kit' on the inside/outside as compared to the other models (apart from the increased length of course)?

Hoping other manufacturers (not only German) take heed and follow this trend too! Thanks to all the fellow BHPians (especially @Venkatesh) on this thread for sharing the recent updates.

Having mixed feelings about the looks of the facelift E. I like the tail lights but the headlights and grill are pretty bad. For the e350d the actual AMG grill in the picture I posted would have made for better looks than the star grille they have labelled as "AMG grill".

Also i feel the white steeringwheel is a bad idea. The white upholstery of this car already stains much easier than the beige-white of the w213. Having a steering of the same colour is going to be a lot of maintenance. Hope there are brown / black interior colour options with most of the other exterior colours.

Feature-wise the MBUX unit is definitely a good upgrade but there does not seem to be any other added features for the near 2.5-3l price hike.
Though the features in each variant have not been fully posted yet, i hope they have made the corrections of adding 360 camera and front memory seats and steering on the e220d exclusive variant. Looks unlikely though.

We recently acquired an e350d for an on-road price lesser than the ex-showroom price of the new one and am feeling good about it. Other than the MBUX i am hardly missing anything. Also looking at the colour options Cavansite blue does not seem available anymore. It was one of the best colours in the Merc stable.

PS : I love the new alloys in the e350d. They look much better than the pre facelift one.

Another picture of how the actual AMG grille would make the front look better

Re: India-bound 2021 Mercedes E-Class LWB facelift revealed. EDIT: Launched at Rs. 63.60 Lakh

Some observations, correct me if I am wrong for point No.1

1) Does the headlamp design look like the current C Class?

2) Cavinsite Blue and Iridium Silver are discontinued, High tech Silver and Mojave Silver are new addition.

3) The Awesome nut brown interior is also discontinued.

4) The C300d AMGLINE has the adaptive headlamp, while the E350d AMGLINE is not havweird.

5) The 12.3" digital display is now standard. With this update the entire Mercedes line now has digital display except the C Class Prime

6) Now the entire Mercedes line up has the MBUX voice assistant, barring the C Class and the current S Class

Re: India-bound 2021 Mercedes E-Class LWB facelift revealed. EDIT: Launched at Rs. 63.60 Lakh

Drove a unique version of the E-Class this weekend - E-Class Kombi E300de (Diesel Hybrid, 194ps/400nm 2ltr Turbo Diesel + 122ps/440nm 90kW Electric motor, with combined 306ps and 700nm) with the AMG Line exterior and interior. This was a rental car from SIXT.

This version has a claimed mileage of 1.4L/100km (71.4 km/ltr), with a sub 6 sec 0-100 time.

The Kombi version is super practical, we used it for moving houses, and the boot just gobbles up stuff like nothing else. The hybrid has a big hump in the boot, however, it doesn't hinder longer stuff like beds and wardrobes much.

Based on my research, this car has the longest boot dimension in its segment with the seats down, coming in at 201 cm long (6ft 7in), and is far more capable than various SUVs for carrying stuff.

The car was equipped with heated seats, windshield heater, blind spot assist, lane keep assist, 360 degree cameras, AR enabled navigation. Interestingly, it was not equipped with Apple CarPlay/Android Auto (it is a 4600 SEK = 38000 INR option, and can be purchased from within the infotainment).

This trim (E300de with AMG Line package) starts at roughly 620,000 SEK (51 lac INR) for 2WD and 650,000 SEK (53 lac INR) for 4MATIC.

Hi team, hope y’all had a merry Christmas and wish you a happy new year in advance. We took delivery of our Silver E350d in Bangalore a couple of days ago. A few pictures of our luxury ’silver arrow’:

Although we’re thoroughly enjoying the mini S class experience with the 6 cyl engine, air suspension, etc. there is one issue that is souring our experience:

During the first start of the day (cold start), when the gearbox is slotted to D or R and we start creeping forward, the RPMs are pretty erratic and the car vibrates/shakes pretty violently. Almost as if the gearbox is lugging the engine. Today, the car stalled in reverse as I was pulling out of the driveway. This behaviour is only experienced during the first few minutes after a cold start and once warmed up, she drives perfectly. It does get pretty cold in Bangalore during the winters but nothing that a car designed for European winters can’t handle.

We’ve escalated this issue with Mercedes but wanted to check if anyone else on the forum has experienced anything similar with the 9G tronic gearbox. Appreciate any help/suggestions in diagnosing the issue.

Cheers!

Seems like a problem with either the fuel/fuelling. The Germans are very sensitive to fuel quality. First thing to do would be to try fuel from a different petrol station after safely draining left overs from the tank.

Congrats! Great car, and you're not going to regret the purchase if you're chauffered or you do long drives.

Having had two of these gearboxes, one on the same car, I can say it's not a standard problem. Seems to do with erratic fuel flow from the description. I see you've already posted on mbworld, but here's another forum with a similar issue. https://www.benzworld.org/threads/e3...start.3106153/

@suraj25
Take it up with the dealer. Send the car in for a German expert opted diagnosis. MB flies in a native engineer for such problems. Such problems should only be evident after atleast 100K Mileage. If all else fails hire an attorney specialising in consumer courts and ask for a new car or new components.

Benz diagnostic systems (Xentry) are very very capable and the dealer should sort it out for you. They can read real time fuel pressure and AFR mixture. They can also check your transmission adaptations to see if there is something unexpected in a new car. Sometimes a cold transmission does shift rough because the adaptations are done on a warm transmission hence they perform the best in that setting. Do keep us posted on the issue.

The next gen E class interior has been revealed. Looks like it gets all the updates from the new S class and C class ( seat buttons and driver screen) along with the panaromic center and passenger screen from the electric EQS range.
