BMW M340i X Drive coming to India in 2021

Mod Note: Team-BHP's BMW M340i xDrive Review has been taken live at this link. Please continue the discussion over on the new thread. Thanks!

It seems the M340i X Drive is making its way to India in 2021. It was supposed to be launched this festive season but Covid has pushed it to next year !

M340 will come, that's for sure. And from whatever I know, BMW has a plan to price it competitively. It will be a full-loaded model, most likely in X-Drive. It will be cheaper than M2-C. Given the assembly infrastructure for 3-series, don't be surprised if they get Kits and assemble it here.

Positive! It will be a full spec car. I had an encounter with it near ARAI, chased it up the road till the gate on a G310R exchanged a few words with the occupants !

If CKD then safe to expect a sub 80 lakh on road price ! It will definitely be the X drive !

A friend of mine postponed his 328i purchase in February to purchase this in October. However, this must have been postponed till early next year

I am almost on the verge of closing down on either the 330i Msport or the 530i Msport, I can also push my purchase and wait for the 340i till early next year but not sure how it will be priced. If it goes beyond 70 OTR bombay then it would be out of my league. So not sure if I should even wait for it

What do you think?

The M340i X Drive will definitely be 75+ lakh OTR Pune...if you can stretch your budget by 10, you will definitely get a worthy car ! I am currently using a 530d and am positively going to go for the M340i. Its all the M that can be used on a daily basis and more !

I have driven the car and trust me...80L OTR is a steal for it!!

This is very exciting indeed, fingers crossed. It definitely has the potential to cannibalise M3 sales 😬

Off topic, The M3 was unveiled recently internationally , what are the chances of a manual transmission coming to India ?

Super off topic, its sad that we dont have a manual performance car in our market. Last thing that came close was the Octavia with mod potential and that's also gone now. Which is the most powerful manual that one can buy today in India ?

M3 Sales ? It is impossible to cannibalise something so small

This could actually ignite a performance sedan segment which is unattended to in the sub 1 Cr bracket!

M340i !!! Finally something from BMW that ticks all the boxes- Performance, Practicality, Petrol powered legendary B58 motor and a front fascia that's easy on the eyes

Hope BMW actually brings this to market and at a competitive price (530d range maybe? going by how its priced in the US market). Would be a definitive addition to my garage and nicely compliment the 5'er.

Best news i've had in weeks! Had plans of replacing the 525d with the X540i solely for the B58 motor... M340i makes a much stronger case, well worth the wait. Would be priced in the 530d ballpark i think!

Power is never enough, so if you can delay the purchase, I would suggest you do that. 330i and 530i aren't going anywhere so when M340 is launched, you can evaluate the then budget and decide.

I have the 330i, I am now thinking if I should exchange
One serious downer is I hate the hideous new grille and overall Hyundai type styling of G20!

To all those who are confused as to whether they should go for BMW's sold currently in India or wait for the 340i X-drive coming next year. Let me leave this below here to make your decision easier. 530d killer anyone? also, you skip the hideous grill of the new M3.

Re: BMW M340i X Drive coming to India in 2021

Its a last chance to get a 6 cylinder turbo petrol in a smallish sedan before emissions norms relegate these to oblivion. The 4 banger turbos sold here are not a patch to this creamy smooth I6.

If anyone can wait, they should. This is definitely something I'd be interested in next year.

So this will compete against the C43 AMG, I'm guessing. Interesting that there is now more than one self-drive fun+luxury daily option.
