Pointless "edition" only to try and stay in the news, nothing else.
Absolutely. Doesn't make sense at all. The alloys don't long good at all. They should have provided something like Black Rhino alloys. The interiors are still biege, while the Everest and Ranger still get black interiors. Besides you pay 80,000 extra just for the "Sports" badge.
I think those who like black, will go for the normal 4x4 Titanium + and use the balance amount for some valuable accessories.

I also feel that after spending 40 lakhs +, the customer must be given some choice of interiors, alloy wheels etc., and not given exactly what the manufacturer makes.

Re: Ford Endeavour Sport launched at Rs. 35.10 lakh

By Ford's logic, my blacked out Duster was a "Sport" variant which got extra 20BHP as soon as I de-chromed it and painted the wheels black

However, I feel this will save trouble for a tiny amount of owners who wanted an all black color and were doing it outside. At that price point, 1 lac isn’t gonna break the deal IMHO.

Agree with you on this.

I think there is a sizeable demand for blacked out SUV's ever since the Harrier launched the black edition. Everyone is going that way not only Ford.
Jeep even came up with the Night Eagle edition. Ford is just charging the money that people would be paying outside.

The blacked out Endeavour logo on the tail gate looks dope though.

Re: Ford Endeavour Sport launched at Rs. 35.10 lakh

Not sure why Ford created so much fuss about it when all they did was blacked out the exterior and slapped a Sport badge, it doesn't even look gangsta with those ugly wheels and mismatching beige interiors. I was watching an SUV comparison test the other day with Prado/Pajero Sport/Fortuner/Everest. It was great to see the Everest having a bi-turbo 2.0L 10 speed AT engine coming out on top in most test scenarios. Overseas Everest competes against Prado, sad to see Ford not bringing the bi-turbo in India, it might make Fortuner run for it's money.

Re: Ford Endeavour Sport launched at Rs. 35.10 lakh

Reminds me of those ford’s butch SUVs because of that grille from Netflix series driven by FBI folks in US

Liberal usage of the term “Sport” by the manufacturers have degraded the meaning to almost “Nothing”!

Atleast 10-20% increase in bhp would’ve justified the usage of “Sport” tag. Companies are botching it big time!

Re: Ford Endeavour Sport launched at Rs. 35.10 lakh

Disappointing effort IMO; just some exterior black bits/decals and a new variant is born. At least they would have played around with the interiors to give that distinct look – something what Skoda did with the Superb Sportline.

Re: Ford Endeavour Sport launched at Rs. 35.10 lakh

When a flailing Jeep India and Tata can do a better job with their black editions why can't Ford?

This is seriously half baked. You do some exterior black bits and then say it's a black edition. Too lazy to change the door handles to black or the interior colour scheme.

How can you sell this as Sports edition with a cabin bathed in Beige. The doors, the dash, the dash, all are completely beige. The Endeavour has more beige than any other sedan or SUV in this segment.

You can clearly see other countries that recently got this Sport variant get the all black interiors, but Ford India didn't want to spend here on going the whole hog:

https://www.carsguide.com.au/family/...port-4x4-79106

And yes if you're putting a Sports badge on it, then it should have had the Bi-Turbo engine not the 168BHP one.

For 75-80K more over the regular Endeavour, this is a lame attempt.

Re: Ford Endeavour Sport launched at Rs. 35.10 lakh

Pretty pathetic effort if you ask me. Especially the interiors bathed in a sea of brown and cream, it just looks totally out of place with the all black theme that they were aiming for. When are these guys ever going to learn that all black cabin looks so much more classy than this beige nonsense? Ford has already mucked up the Ecosport variants (other than the expensive S variant) with terrible beige interiors and spoilt a long existing classic all black look. And now this uncoordinated beige interior with a black exterior theme. Their designer/ concept advisor really needs to do a relook at his concepts.

Re: Ford Endeavour Sport launched at Rs. 35.10 lakh

Wonder what of this below list qualifies the "Sport" name? Perhaps if it had the bi-turbo to justify the sport tag and the price premium.

While I like the below additions,
Smoked LED headlamps - love it
Black front grille & fender grille - love it
Black roof rails & ORVMs - looks good
Black alloy wheels - prefer the current Titanium+ better

My pick would be the "diffused silver" with these blacked out bits would stand out while the car wearing all black is both a dust magnet and a hottie (pun intended) for Indian conditions.

I would have preferred an all black interior - while the roof and top of the dash are black already, but having the rest of the interior in black would have been better and felt worth!

BLASPHEMY!!

On a serious note, does Ford not have creative people at marketing end? They could've called it 'Stealth Edition' and have a lesser backlash from Team-BHP I suppose.

Off topic but in relative thought, Toyota Fortuner TRD atleast has side skirts and bumper trims.

Re: Ford Endeavour Sport launched at Rs. 35.10 lakh

What Ford has done is so unlike Ford. Are we already seeing the impact of Ford-Mahindra Joint-Venture ? It would be utterly disappointing to see a product like Endeavour go down step by step.

Re: Ford Endeavour Sport launched at Rs. 35.10 lakh

Terrible. Is this the handiwork of Mahindra's marketing folks, courtesy of the JV? More likely, maybe it was a team which was let go by Mahindra. First the Flair edition of freestyle and now this abomination.

Without all that chrome, it would have been a good opportunity to price this variant more economically, so it would've looked like better value against the Fortuner. Instead, they've done the exact opposite and jacked up the price.

They are watering down the Endeavour's brand value with nonsense like this. If anyone at Ford is listening, please try to do what you're good at - focus on products and updates which are driver-centric.

Re: Ford Endeavour Sport launched at Rs. 35.10 lakh

The Sport badging is a desperate attempt by Ford to catch some attention and stay relevant. This is again, an attempt to ride the brain waves of the "discerning Indian customer" as something 'fresh' and upsell their existing truck with lipstick work.

Its a true observation Shanky. I agree reviews in Australia do often compare the two.

The comparison with Prado globally, has been discussed in detail in the Endeavour thread since 2016, and it comes with its own lacunae and price overlaps of the Everest from mid-higher variant Fortuners all the way to lower variant Prados.

The Australians are generally affectionate towards the Everest because its home grown for them and helped the Oz car market when everything was shutting down.It was entirely designed in Australia and I do notice a wee bias whenever they talk about it. Anyway the Oz Everest with all its kit, is not truly the Indian Endeavour we are served here. We should put this 'Prado competitor' tag to rest now.

We should see the Endeavour for the competition its pitted against here in India, which is Fortuner and rightly so.

Re: Ford Endeavour Sport launched at Rs. 35.10 lakh

When Ford launched the BS6 Endeavour earlier this year, I think they made it clear that the Bi-Turbo variant isn't on the cards in the current generation. It's us - the folks using Team-BHP - who thought they might be hiding a surprise under the long hood of the 'Sport'.

The Endeavour has all that a hardcore SUV needs. It is reasonably powerful, the transmission is a joy to use if what I hear from those who have driven it is true, it's a revelation off-road and, to top it all, comes across as a comfortable highway cruiser. More power is always welcome, Bi-Turbo or otherwise. Bottom line is, the Endeavour lacks nothing. It's more of a mental block to accept 2.0L in place of 3.2L!

That said, it is disappointing to see the brand that offered us legitimately sporty variants like the Fiesta 1.6 S has resorted to what other brands do in the name of sport. We have no one else but us to blame. Why, you ask?

Ford went out of the way to make sure the suspension tuning in the Figo S and the Aspire S are markedly different from the regular versions which were deemed too soft. The result? Their manufacturing complexity went up but not the sales numbers. If the reception to such products are non-existent (at worst) and lukewarm (at best), the product planners inside are going to have a tough time justifying mechanical changes. With the Endeavour likely to be a 500 units per month model, the 'Sport' might add lower double digit numbers to the tally per month at best. Which company would go for extensive modifications for such miniscule numbers?
