Convertibles in India

We do have a range of cars belonging to different segments from economy to luxury being manufactured in India by a various companies. But why isn't anyone coming up with an convertible Does it have to do anything with the weather in India (A bit hot and dusty)? I wonder how long will it take for an practical convertible to hit Indian roads.

Well, its too hot and dusty to really enjoy a convertible in India. Theft and vandalism could be other reasons. Also, a convertible is best as a second / third car.

The San Storm and Maruti Gypsy are two convertibles that spring to mind.

Often discussed topic.
Those guys gyped the public, got gyped themselves and scooted off with the advance collected. The Quantum never saw Indian roads except the show cars. I had the chance to drive one for a long trip and it was fast and powerpacked. Sad the Kit car was not allowed here. Must be some CKD issues.

Your friendly neighbourhood mercedes dealer will sell you an SLK, CLK or SL convertible with warranty and servicing.

Late in the night is the best time for enjoying convertibles in India. This is when temp and dust levels are low.

i think the convertible should be practical in the sense, it shouldn't have a very high price. A four seater, may be like the BMW convertible (don't exactly rem the model may the 3 series) i think it would work then. tht is just guess..

If you want a convertible in India IMO you should go in for a Miata. I think before launching a convertible a manufacturer should test the market for sports coupes.

If you had a spanner and some patience. Seven bolts and half an hour later, you're wind-in-the-hair-ing.

Hard top convertibles would be perfect for our climate...i see a good market for these cars too.......BMW should seriously consider the 3 series convertible for India.
