Re: Pre-worshipped car of the week : Buying a Used Ford Endeavour (2nd-gen)

I owned a 2.2 Trend for 3 years (2016-19). While it lacked outright power and also had a slow gearbox, it somewhat made up with great fuel efficiency for its size.

In Chennai, city mileage hovered around 10-10.5 kmpl, while on highways it went up to 13.5-14 kmpl.

Re: Pre-worshipped car of the week : Buying a Used Ford Endeavour (2nd-gen)

Definitely a YES.

I own the 3.2L 4x4AT Endeavour since 2017 and its a wonderful vehicle.
Although the new 10 speed gearbox is superior to the 6 speed auto gearbox, the 2.0 litre engine in the latest version is okay. I still prefer the 3.2L engine. Never the less, the body is the same with some minor tweaks. Its the best SUV in its category, no doubt.

The bi-turbo version would definitely be a killer and it will outdate all the past and current Endeavour models.

Anyone who has read my posts on Rs 30 - 40 lakh SUV threads knows how much I love the Endeavour. Voted Yes! This is a car that punches way above its weight - related thread. While a new Endeavour is good value, a used Endeavour can give you terrific value. A brand new Titanium Plus is for 42 lakhs in Bombay, but I can get a nice 3.2L for 21 - 24 lakhs (example 1 and 2). If I had the need for an SUV, there would already be a pre-worshipped one parked down the house.

Tip: Wait for another year if you can. Prices will drop by another handful of lakhs, as they usually do at the 5-year mark.
Both the cars are same, although advertised on different dates.
The interesting thing is the latest ad i.e one placed on 19th August mentions the mileage as 37000 Kms.
Whereas the ad placed on 5th August mentions the mileage as 38000 Kms.

The car ran backward in one month and took its odometer reading along with it.

Btw I would buy the 3.2 version in a jiffy if not for its size.

Voted NO
The vehicle looks, performance and build quality is very good. However Ford is a very uncertain company in India and may go the GM way. This puts most of the owners at the mercy of local workshops. Long term spares may be a problem. These vehicle has complex electrical systems, once these problems find their way into a vehicle and the vehicle is out of warranty, its expensive to fix. Most of the Local workshops are not equipped to fix these issues quickly, therefore the vehicle will be grounded for longer time.

Re: Pre-worshipped car of the week : Buying a Used Ford Endeavour (2nd-gen)

Ford Endeavour- only if I intended to keep it for a period not more than 7-8 years and/or 2 Lac kilometers. Anything for above and beyond that, well, I'd not be confident about anything apart from it's engine and so a Fortuner would make more sense.

Voted a yes.

Re: Pre-worshipped car of the week : Buying a Used Ford Endeavour (2nd-gen)

Voted a yes. But if it's a big SUV you're looking for in the second-hand market, and the question asked which SUV to go for, I would say Fortuner. The Endeavour is strong; it's fun! But the Fortuner is strong, it's fun, and it LASTS!

Besides, both are good but...

Re: Pre-worshipped car of the week : Buying a Used Ford Endeavour (2nd-gen)

All of us have driven on Indian roads. In the cities, the roads in every city are bad. Roads are broken (Mumbai is bad), during rains water logging happens in every city.

People spending 15-25 lacs on cars is very common nowadays. Keeping both these things in mind, this particular recommendation is a very good one! An actual SUV instead of the 'fake' ones like Creta/Seltos.

I'm in no hurry but I do need to buy a car. I'd MUCH rather get one-two level higher segment car than buy a new "SUV". Endeavour is such a lovely Ford car. Thanks for the reco, I'm adding this in my list of cars to keep looking out for!

This generation of Endeavour is not only reliable but the prices of most of the spares parts have been reduced. The 3.2L engine is lovely and overall as a package it is very desirable.

Re: Pre-worshipped car of the week : Buying a Used Ford Endeavour (2nd-gen)

Ford Endeavour in 3.2 is definitely desirable with kind of mods options available and it stands apart and none even comes close. Just adding alloys and bit of fenders and lights it looks killer and engine has the grunt to pull through well.

Check this modified Endeavour, looks kick ass

Re: Pre-worshipped car of the week : Buying a Used Ford Endeavour (2nd-gen)

One of our Trend 3.2 that we bought in 2016 has now run 1.35 lac Km and am happy to report that except for an A/c related fault, twice at different places, nothing else has failed ever. Usual service is done at the FORD Dealership always and the prices of service and consumables is lower than before.

Resale market also remains strong for the new Endeavour at least here in Punjab & Chandigarh. Recently, we were offered Rs 17 lac, perhaps Fortuner from 2016 to 17 (new shape) may be 10-15 % more.

I will pick a low mileage 3.2 over the newer 2.2 any day, but if someone has to consider only new one, Fortuner is a better option in my opinion.

Re: Pre-worshipped car of the week : Buying a Used Ford Endeavour (2nd-gen)

Definitely NOT, and voted a gleeful no. Unless one is hell-bent on the vehicle and are adept at maintaining the vehicle vis a vis, expenses, used SUVs or used luxury cars are a money pit in literal terms. Of course there are pros to any purchase, but the cons equally outweight the pros unless the car was literally taken care of like a peach.

Cheers!

Re: Pre-worshipped car of the week : Buying a Used Ford Endeavour (2nd-gen)

Absolutely Yes!

Endeavour 3.2 AT 4x4 combination is too good to resist, butch looks, loaded with features to the brim which surprisingly the Fortuner doesn't offer till date. Top it with few tasteful mods off-road rims, BF Goodrich A/T tyres and Pete's tuned, you will have a drool worthy ride which is equally capable on and off the road.

Voted No. Am sceptical of running cost & maintenance. Will consider only if use - service history is clear or there is a company's pre-owned division which sells with warranty & free services.

Re: Pre-worshipped car of the week : Buying a Used Ford Endeavour (2nd-gen)

Voted an emphatic Yes!, albeit I would consider a 3.2 only. The 2.2 engine is mediocre.
The vehicle is an all-rounder - be it the quality of interiors, the ride quality, off-road ability, the amazing 3.2 engine, available tech or the sheer road presence. I was seriously considering a used 3.2 Endeavour as the next upgrade to my Vento, but COVID has put a dent in my plans and now it has been pushed out by at least 2 years. I really hope Ford gets the 2.0 litre bi-turbo engine to India soon and if available by then, would take a call between getting a new one or going the pre-worshipped route. The current 2.0 engine is just about adequate for the car, the wow factor of the 3.2 is missing.

Re: Pre-worshipped car of the week : Buying a Used Ford Endeavour (2nd-gen)

Voted NO. Of course not for the car as such but ownership experience will be hell with Ford's ASC. Support is not as good as Toyota. Maybe better to own in a metro city having good amount of Endy's experienced technicians but in towns it will be tough to maintain.
