Saw a non Thule boxed silver one in Pune with ZF stickers on the side. (Perhaps gearbox testing?)

Spotted a ZF stickered RAV-4 in Kharghar, Navimumbai today. Couldn't take pictures but it was a silver car and the testers inside were monitoring data in a laptop.
Somehow felt that it doesn't have a good road presence when next to a Creta.

This is Component Supplier ZF testing their Front Camera's (ADAS) object detection capabilities and also recording the road objects for R&D.

Toyota seems to be waiting for the global launch of 2023 Honda CR-V, probably the only competitor in RAV-4's segment with Hybrid tech.

Honda CR-V global product launch is slated tomorrow - 12th July. I'm guessing Toyota would be eager to know CR-V's spec to match and price it fair (or) weather to launch at all via CBU route.

With the details released so far of both the SUVs, CR-V seems well ahead w.r.t beauty competition vs the aging RAV-4.

I happened to click these pictures from my factory in Jharkhand. Initially dismissed them as the new Toyota Urban Cruiser Hyryder but after closer analysis and online searches, confirmed that they were the Toyota Rav4.

Besides these, the India-bound Toyota Land Cruiser was also being transported on the trailers.

These appear to be in transit to Nepal most likely.

Toyota RAV4 has to be positioned above the Hyryder and below the Fortuner for sure.
It may just be an idea to disrupt the XUV700 and Scorpio N and the Harrier and Safari etc with the RAV4.
The RAV4 is a well thought of SUV, with Four Wheel Drive and all - the Suzuki Vitara and Grand Vitara etc used to compete with it, generations ago.
And incidentally, if one compares the RAV4 or Suzuki Vitara/ Grand Vitara of a few generations ago to these new ones, one can clearly see how massively they have all expanded in size and bulk.

I don't understand what exactly is the reason that keeps Toyota away from launching the RAV4 in India. This makes more sense to India than Fortuner, which is kind of bare bone for its price.

With the CBU route the RAV4 could end up being more expensive than Fortuner. Still, they should throw the Camry away and put the RAV4 into local CKD assembly as a Tucson rival.

Spotted the RAV4 in Pune today morning. It was an ARAI Test Car. It ran the Camry Powertrain as per the driver.
