Err.. Today. I stay ~ 15 Kms away from the City and hence Car usage is not all together Zero. I have done may be 3 tankfuls since the lockdown started in March. It would have been 8 tankfuls based on my prior usage.

Last refueled in mid - Feb full tank diesel! Went on a official trip outside India. Came back first week of March and went to self isolation. By the time my isolation period got over, the entire country got locked up. Hardly run 50km since.

I last refueled on 31st Jan 2020 and car is still having 1/4th of fuel left even after having some minor visits here and there and general grocery visits.

Total number of days as of 24th July is 175 and counting.

I am on refuelling spree - visiting my native Bihar from "karmabhoomi" Bangalore. Last 4 weeks have been heavy on driving with odo clicking 4000+ kms. Travelogue (my first) coming soon.

Would like to mention...

When crude oil price steep reduction happened at Global level during Covid-19 situation, most of us were at home because of lockdown.

Our governement is smart enough by keeping the prices unchanged most of the lockdown period so the benefits were never trasfered to the consumers.
To justify the price they brough the tax increase point and applied.

Now when the global pricing is slowly settling they silently added almost +10 Rs per liter and we started daily usage.

at the end of the day the consumer is loosing with out knowing the pinch because of daily update concept they brought.

With lockdown, I refuelled my diesel car 3 months ago (its still almost full) and my petrol car which I use since its automatic for errands for short distances 2 months ago.
Might have saved around 30 thousand rupees due to lockdown

FORTUNER - It was tanked up while returning from Pushkar on 12th March at Manesar. As this car is primarily used for highway runs, thanks to covid-19, there haven’t been any such runs and the car still has around 60-65% fuel (being 10-15% fuel used while idling so that the battery doesn’t die).
VITARA BREZZA - As this car is our daily driver, it has a running of 40-60 kms a day, it requires refuelling every 10 days approx and was last refilled on 15th July.
ALTO 800 - This car is usually used for grocery runs but due to lack of transportation in the covid era, the car is also used by our staff for office and site travel. Hence, don’t have specifics about the refuelling but guessing the car does 30-40 kms a day, it might be refuelled every week.

Refuelled today, at an atrocious rate of 79 rupees per liter for diesel. 4th tankfull this month.
Usually I do 6 or 7 tankfulls a month (puny 35 liter tank in the ciaz). I am one of those lucky people who still get to drive 3000 km a month during lockdown.

I refueled my car in the first week of march and as the covid times set in, i moved out of Delhi to haryana(my ancestral home) just to be at a safer place. Now after 5 months i visited Delhi to pick my car that had been parked at my home since march, the battery was dead, jump started it and bought it back to haryana. I still have a quarter tank of fuel left.
That said I am shocked to see how the Government has responded to covid and has made petrol/diesel expensive by almost 10 Rupees in a single blow!

I did a tankful of petrol on my car just before the first phase of the nationwide lock-down on 20th March, 2020.
Except for some important works, the car has been sparingly used since then. Running has come down quite drastically.
I think my next refueling would take place after first service.

I topped up the tank on the night of 21-Mar- the same night when PM announced first 21 days lockdown. That was 4 months ago, so, I voted for 3-5 months.
With Work From Home and online shopping, the car has not run much. Have done only few runs and it will be another month to my next top up.

I last refueled on 16th Feb, 2020 (161 days ago), and today the fuel gauge level is above half.

As far as I can remember I refueled my beast and my nano in early February and since then they have hardly moved anywhere since I was at my parent's place with my house and cars locked for 4+ months altogether.

Returned back to Noida early July and then had to get both the cars jump started and then also my cars haven't moved more than 5 kms.

Sorry for being but today I decided to fill up the tank to the brim, our car has a 35L tank and only a bar of fuel (16 bar gauge) was left before top up, so I had maybe 2 litres of fuel left? The final number was 37.2 litres! Where did the extra 4 litres of fuel go? Did I get cheated? I usually top up using the auto cut-off method but for some odd reason, today I decided to rock the car and shove as much fuel as possible.

1000 Kms - that's what my Seltos has run since 3rd week of March, means 4 months. This is against a run of 13500 kms in 3 months preceding that.

I may have run at least 7k-8k during this period, if not for the pandemic. Ever since, i've been only filling fuel for 1000₹ or so because I don't even know when would I consume that much fuel as all my inter state travels are kept in an indefinite abeyance.

My friend has a different story to share. He has filled a full tank in his diesel Seltos two months back and he's seriously not sure if he would be able to consume the whole tank before the end of this year as he continues to work from home nor he's travelling out of town for leisure or to his native town. His car has run 300 odd kms since then. Just sharing the fuel logs he shared.

In that context, is it ok for diesel to remain in the tank unused for such an unprecedented duration. I for sure, know that petrol if kept in the tank unused for long gives a different smell when the car is used after a long layoff. Would like to hear from fellow bhpians on this.
