The rear of the car is so ungainly and ill proportioned. It looks like a hatch that backed itself into a garden shed. This is especially disappointing considering how good looking the earlier 1 series coupe and 2 series were. Has the styling got anything to do with fact that they switched from a rwd to fwd architecture?

Exactly what I'm thinking. I was close to finalising an A Class hatch when it was available. However both the engines were pretty dull on paper and the dealer didn't have a TD vehicle. I drove the CLA with the same Diesel engine and the powerful petrol engine but sadly that option was not there in the CLA.

For someone who wants to upgrade to a hatch, better than the Polo, I see no options at all.

The closest one can get to a premium hatch is probably the Audi Q2.

You would have to have clay for brains if you buy this Fwd 2 series at that price instead of a fully loaded Superb or Octavia. What are they even thinking?

I think they are trying the Birbal small line tactic here :-) By pricing the 2 so high they are making 3 look value for money now !!
