Why have the Luxury car makers stopped producing their hatchback models?
The A is now a Sedan, There is no 1 series anymore in India, and Also, Audi is selling only A6 onwards. There is no Small Volvo either. The Mini is also exhorbitantly priced.

For someone who wants to upgrade to a hatch, better than the Polo, I see no options at all.

I have a great liking for hatchbacks too and echo what you're saying. I would love to see the A class hatch and VW golf come to India. Sadly, I feel majority of consumers in India associate luxury with sedans and SUVS, which is why we rarely see estates either :/

Ahead of it's scheduled launch on 15th October, BMW India's website goes live and lists the 2 Series Gran Coupeconfirming that there will be two options available at launch –

1. M Sport
2. Sport Line trim

The color options for the M Sport are –
1. Alpine White
2. Black Sapphire Metallic
3. Melbourne Red Metallic
4. Misano Blue Metallic
5. Snapper Rocks Blue Metallic
6. Storm Bay Metallic

The Sport Line trim gets –
1. Alpine White
2. Black Sapphire Metallic
3. Melbourne Red Metallic
4. Storm Bay Metallic
5. Seaside Blue Metallic

Earlier today, BMW announced that it had started accepting pre-bookings for the 2 Series Gran Coupe. Now, a car in the launch colour has been spotted at a dealership yard.

The 2 Series Gran Coupe is a four-door sedan based on the 2 Series Coupe. The car has a sloping roofline and pillar-less doors, similar to the larger 6 Series Gran Coupe. A 220d variant has also been spotted in Jaipur.

Powering the 2 Series Gran Coupe will be a 2.0-litre diesel engine that produces 187 BHP and 400 Nm. It is expected to be paired with an 8-speed automatic transmission.

The BMW 2 Series Gran Coupe will compete with the upcoming Mercedes-Benz A Class Limousine in the Indian market. The launch is scheduled for October 15.

Quite possibly, the worst car made by BMW ever! To put it politely, this drives as good as it looks!

A prime example of all that is wrong with BMW today and how much the brand has lost the plot nowadays.

Agree with the first part of the comment but disagree with the second half unless you mean BMW in India. The M2 competition and CS are both taking BMW back to what we absolutely loved - the old M3. Everything getting back to what a proper driver needs. I'd say just getting back the plot which they lost. Ofcourse, the designers seems to be borrowed from some other company.
Even with M3 and M4, if you can look beyond the front design, on paper, they appear taking the company back to roots.

I don't get why BMW is absolutely bamboozling its fanbase by getting into every niche.., well yeah, sales.

BUT logically one must make a 4 door car with a boot only if there is great rear legroom. The 5 Series itself has legroom that is reminiscent of a C Segment sedan (but way less better than a Nissan Sunny), the 3 Series rear legroom, well my knees scrape the seatback all the time, this one with the sloped roofline and even lesser wheelbase than 3 should be a riot at the back.

They should've just stuck to the M1 with hatch design and even the old retro M1 styling, because the current lot of BMW designs look like a grinning catfish with 4 glowing mutated eyes. Should drive well though, most BMWs are tight cars.
