Re: Skoda Superb facelift launched at Rs. 29.99 lakh

Lava Blue L&K. First reactions:
Certainly looks imposing.
Unsure of the alloys.
Tyres look skinny.
Little bit gaudy with the chrome too.

DQ381-7F - Front wheel drive applications
DQ381-7A - AWD applications.

DQ380 - Cheaper version with lesser torque now exclusive for China. Was found in few Golf variants but now all DQ381.

Agree the front grill chrome is too flashy. The original black was good.

Also the smaller tyres must be on account of the Rough Road Package. Wonder if an upgrade to R18 or R19 would make it look better.

Has the L&K lost the auto-park feature? I don't see any parking sensors on the sides of both the front and rear bumpers in the above car

The auto-park is not of much use, but I rely heavily on those 4 sensors on the sides of my Octavia when driving around in slow moving city traffic or when parking in tight places.

Edit:

Just noticed that it didn't get this feature when originally launched, but looks like it was later offered. I can see those sensors in the L&K shown in the below post:

The Skoda Superb did have auto park feature before the face-lift. There was a page on the Skoda India website earlier, but they have now removed this page. You can see the link here. If you search for it on google you can see the cached page of the same.

You can also see a demo of that feature in a Superb 1.8 TSI L&K 2019 model:

Those dials almost look like the ones on the base Creta. The layout overall I mean.

In my opinion this car is a big underdog just for that styling. The level of detailing, the attention given to surfaces and proportions, IMO this is one of the most elegant cars made by VW and is certainly better looking than any Audi this size.

Re: Skoda Superb facelift launched at Rs. 29.99 lakh

Is the car ready to go for a wedding? Cant tolerate such decorations on cars, especially on a new one. How did you feel about the LED headlights? I know can't tell much in the showroom but do they look good in person? As far as light output goes, the ones here and the Matrix ones could be the same brightness give for the metric features. Thats my assumption based on which Skoda would have decided to launch it without Matrix LED. It is a close to GBP 2000 option in the UK on the SE variants. But standard on L&K and Sportline. For me, take away that sunroof and electric tail gate, give me the Matrix LED and 18" wheels.

Re: Skoda Superb facelift launched at Rs. 29.99 lakh

I just saw the walk around video by Zigwheels posted above and here comes another big disappointment.

First of all the sunroof is puny and if I am not mistaken the sunroof blind is not an electric unit and one need to pull it manually.

A manual sunroof blind in this segment and that too in top of the line L&K variant, big shame I must say. I assume Passat have fully electric panoramic sunroof with electric blind.

I think the current Superb is a mind boggingly fantastic car. I bought the Style AT 1.8 tsi on the 31st of December 2019. Took delivery 29th Jan. Hardly driven, and it boggles the mind. Bought it as a gift for my Mom, and took delivery on her Anniversary.

It rides flat, is very powerful. very luxurious. tonnes of hidden features. great fit and finish. fantastic seats. comfort is unparralleld. the only gripe I have found till now, are that the buttons on the steering wheel are a little loose. (at the touchscreen audio) I personally hate touchscreens.

Should post a full update soon!

cheers! stay safe,

Re: Skoda Superb facelift launched at Rs. 29.99 lakh

I think the differentiation in features between the Sportline and L&K models has been very well thought out. They are clearly addressing two key target consumers - self-driving enthusiasts for the Sportline and chauffeur-driven bosses for the L&K. All the feature exclusions between the models, except a few, may perfect sense if you think from this perspective.

Here are the features exclusive to each of the models:

Sportline for self-driven enthusiasts:
  • Virtual Cockpit
  • flat-bottomed steering wheel
  • glossy black exterior elements
  • carbon decor
  • Sport seats with integrated headrests
  • Front passenger seat with adjustable controls
  • Black alcantara upholstry
  • Leather wrapped steering wheel

L&K for chauffeur-driven bosses:
  • manual dials good enough for chauffer
  • chrome package for exterior
  • piano black decor
  • interior chrome surrounds
  • front door Skoda logo projection
  • Tire Pressure monitoring
  • Height adjustable headrests
  • Virtual boot lid release pedal
  • Boss button to move the front seats from back
  • dual tone leather upholstry
  • armrest stiching!
  • 11 speaker system as compared to 8 speakers in Sportline
  • textile floor mats with lounge step
  • door pocket lighting
  • Power nap package for rear seats
  • Umbrellas!
  • Extra storage pockets behind front seats

The only mismatches:
  • Drive mode select in L&K but not in Sportline
  • Ventilated seats in L&K but not in Sportline

If these were there, the differentiation would be absolutely perfect!

Well, they have to miss out on something. Else, how can they justify the love-hate relationship with customers?!

But yes, I am really excited that they have someone like me, a sedan lover, in mind for the sport line. I have something to look up to.

Well thought out & captured .

Wish they had given 18" alloys to the Sportline though. One correction is that even in the UK/EU, Skoda has not integrated ventilation into the sports seats. Hence, that is not a miss on their part.

Skoda will be watching the interest in the Sportline very keenly. The last batch sold at 5-6 lakh discounts

What i really find sad is, when you do a comparison of the Superb L&K edition to the cheaper Karoq the list of features dropped from the Superb but present in the Karoq.

The 2020 Superb Sportline at 30L does not even have TPMS, Umbrellas, Dual Boot etc which even my 2012 Superb 1.8 TSI MT had at 18.5L. Sad to see them skimping features.

OTOH My Superb is just going great even after 8 years. Cheers...
