Volkswagen has launched the Polo and Vento TSI editions priced at Rs. 7.89 lakh and Rs. 10.99 lakh (ex-showroom) respectively.



The limited TSI edition comes with a honeycomb grille, body side graphics, TSI badge across the passenger door, black ORVMs, glossy black roof & spoiler.



The Polo and Vento TSI editions are based on the Highline Plus variants of the respective cars.



The TSI edition cars are powered by a BS6-compliant 1.0-litre turbocharged petrol engine that produces 109 BHP and 175 Nm. The engine is mated to a 6-speed manual transmission.

Volkswagen is making a joke out of term,"special edition" as there is absolutely nothing special about them anymore! Just milking their decade old bread and butter models and diluting the brand name on the long run. Even their sibling is putting up a better show!

VW ran out of fancy names? TSI edition sounds lame. The most exciting thing about the VW special editions was their name. . Initially thought there was something missing in the thread title.

Considering that the new range of variants have just been launched and have not even got a chance to be out in the market due to covid, such special editions will just confuse people.

What, a special edition within weeks of the launch of the new BS6 line? VW must be desperate!

They could have at least launched the Vento TSI edition at 9.99 Lakhs, so that it is tax efficient in most states.

Almost every other manufacturer has a new product in this price segment (TATA Altros/Hundai Aura/Venue etc.), while VW's offerings are 10 years old! Hard to compete without special editions and massive discounting.

If VW is this confused for the 6 models they have on sale, I can't even imagine how they'll be like if they have as many as Maruti. So, TSI edition. Did they suddenly wake up today morning and think, hey, let's market the new engine that we have? Could they not have announced this when they launched the car.

Instead of calling it Polo TSI edition, Volkswagen India should have named it Polo Cheetah edition, with all those spots around the body, it would have been apt name

Why are they launching these lame special editions at lower price than the current variant it's based on that too just within a few weeks of its launch. Even VW dealers are confused with pricing of the new Vento(comfortline and highline costs the same as per their website) and now the price difference of 1.2lacs between the limited edition and the standard highline plus. whereas the price difference between the two variants in Polo is 22k.
VW could have added the LED headlamps in the Polo like the one's on the Vento highline plus.

It's officially become a pain for people looking at second hand VW Polo and Vento. There is very little documentation online about the various features each variant has because they would've added or removed features every other year.

I realised this only after seeing questions on Quora whether there is 'x' feature on 'y' variant of the year 'z'. Seriously! Who can sit and research online about the various configurations the same shell has been sold with over a period of 10 years!

In comparison, Seltos variant spread is relatively simple!

I think the day isn't too far away when Indian roads will have more "special edition" VWs than "regular" VWs . But then, it is the regular cars that will become more special because of their rarity .
