Suzuki Swift facelift leaked online

The first image of the updated Suzuki Swift for international markets has leaked online.

The image suggests that the Swift facelift is likely to get a new honeycomb mesh grille with a chrome strip. The front bumper has been redesigned and features a slim air dam with re-profiled fog lamp pods. The sweptback headlamps have also been reworked.

The car is likely to be offered in five single tone colour options - Red, Blue, White, Black and Grey and four dual-tone options - Orange-Black, Red-Black, Blue-Black and Yellow-Black. The dual-tone version comes with a black roof, black A and B-pillars and black ORVMs. The car also gets new design dual-tone alloy wheels.

In India, Maruti Suzuki is rumoured to introduce the Swift facelift later this year. It could get similar cosmetic changes as the international model. The car is expected to be powered by a 1.2-litre Dualjet petrol engine producing 89 BHP. The engine could be paired with either a 5-speed manual or 5-speed AMT.

Re: Suzuki Swift facelift leaked online

Nice little facelift. I like the reworked front end. The old grille looked like as a huge black blank area. The new grille with the strip in the middle is more striking. The new bumper goes well with the grille and makes the front end less bland.

The new wheels look rather generic and are just about alright. Somehow, I prefer the current design. I'm not sure we will get most of the new colours.

Re: Suzuki Swift facelift leaked online

In keeping with the times, going for a facelift for the Swift was apt. The new trims look ok and may appear better looking than the version it is replacing.

However, it's not a digestable fact that MSIL accords low priority to "India First" launches, where Hyundai excels. The news about MSIL introducing this model in other international markets prior to India will send a wrong signal. India is among their largest markets and MSIL should do many "India First" launches, to gain customer confidence.

Can't believe they have once again managed to make it look fresh with mild updates - new Swift looks good even though we are used to seeing the basic design for over a decade now.

If not for the appalling 2-star safety rating and the unstable platform - Swift is still a very desirable product. Hope Maruti brings out a BS6 diesel variant soon as well.

For a moment I though somebody bumped up an old thread - blink and you miss the changes. Swift has had non-polarizing design. Hope Maruti works towards making bit more safer and sturdy.

The DualJet is codenamed K12N and not K12C which is widely wrongly circulated in normal media.

Attaching some pics from Maruti's internal resources:

Compared to the current Swift it's a blink and you miss it kinda facelift. Just the line in the middle of the grill and the front and side skirts which I am not sure might make it here.

Drive on,
Shibu.

The AMT on the petrol is a confused gearbox IMHO. On a straight road, a single gear pulls almost uptil the redline to switch to the next gear unless the throttle is left for a fraction of a sec for it to switch to the next gear. Similarly in the ghats, it keeps on hovering between 2nd and 3rd which is irritating. It can even screw up an overtake unless it’s in the correct powerband. I’m not sure how it acts in the diesel variant.

I don’t think Maruti would have played with the ECU maps with this minor facelift but they definitely need to do something about it to make the AMT more smoother and intelligent.

Cheers

I have a Swift VXi AMT which was purchased in Feb 2020. I have completed about 1600 kms so far. The AMT gearbox is an absolute delight. The head nod is hardly perceptible and the gear changes happen in the right band. There are very few instances when the AMT take a bit longer to upshift from second to the third gear. However, it is an absolute breeze to drive in the heavy Delhi traffic. On open roads the AMT quickly slots into the fifth gear and is very smooth.

Overall, I am very satisfied with the car's performance.

Given how they have cosmetically ruined the Dzire, its better they stick to this facelift. Current one looks good and all it needs is a nice honeycomb grill on the outside, minus any chrome.

Shashi
