The facelift is quite limited in both. Actually I like what they have done with the current Dzire to extend it's grill downward rather than the old grill. But to every man his poison.

In the Swift's case there is nothing much to like of dislike for me! It's that inconsequential.

Drive on,

I’ve a 2018 Swift VXI AMT too which has done almost 15K kms and majorly seen the highway. You can’t qualify the performance basis traffic conditions as the gearbox hardly changes gears and also when we’re quite soft on the throttle. Take some more time and you’ll realise where I’m coming from.

Cheers

I have driven my car on the Agra expressway as well. No problem whatsoever. Very smooth gear shifts and great performance. The car does triple digit speeds with ease. The engine is also very smooth.

Overall, it is a great little package from Maruti. I am very impressed and delighted to have made the right decision by putting my money on the new improved Maruti Swift.

Similarly in the ghats, it keeps on hovering between 2nd and 3rd which is irritating. It can even screw up an overtake unless it’s in the correct powerband. I’m not sure how it acts in the diesel variant.
On the contrary, it is a surprisingly fun gearbox which requires correct pairing of rpm with the gear. On the straights, using the manual mode is the exact same as a regular manual tranny and downshifts are a delight.
You can definitely build some good pace on the M mode.

Using the D mode on the ghats does confuse the gearbox as it hunts for the right rpm. The M mode can easily override this issue and facilitate some good engine breaking, which is surprisingly not much with the CVT or even DSG hatches.

Yes it may not be the most intelligent or refined gearbox, but it does pack some fun factor with it.

I second that. All the fun is in the M mode in the AMT and that’s what is preferred in ghats. In the D mode, if you’re subtle it behaves nicely too. But when you show some urgency to the gearbox and that’s when the confusion begins. But whereas for a CVT and DSG, things are pretty smoother in their normal D drives.

Re: Suzuki Swift facelift leaked online

I have loved the swift from the first gen here in India. It is a such a solid and cute package. Gets the Job done, Super reliable and backed by a Solid network. The only grouse I have with them is not giving a a proper automatic.

BTW the silver color looks great

Re: Suzuki Swift facelift leaked online

If the reported power increase of 7bhp is real then it will make the facelift model having 89bhp.

With each generation the car lost power marginally to keep the performance of the car same despite being in different generations? This doesn't make sense.

Haven't we seen this nose somewhere before? Suzuki "inspired" by the Italians perhaps?

WOW!

Suzuki has managed to keep the Swift and Dezire relevant design-wise with minor but effective tweaks.

On the contrary, the Baleno Advert was on TV today, it suddenly looked so outdated.

The hatchback will come with a new radiator grille and bumper upfront, while there might be slight changes to its insides too.

Maruti will plonk in the 1.2-litre K12N petrol motor making 90 PS and 113 Nm of torque under the bonnet of the car. The engine will likely not feature mild-hybrid assistance, but should offer more fuel economy.

2021 (Updated ) Swift to launch in February.

- 2021 Maruti Suzuki Swift will feature an updated grille, which retains the hexagonal shape but gets a new mesh detailing in place for the horizontally-slatted layout of the current car.

- It will feature a black outer bezel and a chrome slat above the registration plate.

- 2021 Swift will come with a black roof option

- A new shade of orange to choose from the already available colors

- The communication (incl. launch)colour still remains the signature red

- More efficient 1.2 DualJet, Dual-VVT engine (Baleno/Dzire)

- Upgrades to the infotainment system too, with basic connected tech integrated in the SmartPlay system

Re: Suzuki Swift facelift leaked online

When will MSIL EVER come up with a better gearbox for the Swift or other cars? Its ridiculous that they continue to peddle the lethargic AMT for the K12 (save the Baleno) and the anaemic 4-speed TC for the K15 engines.

Although the post is related to facelift but yeah, the AMT in my Dec 2020 Ignis works perfect for 99% of my needs. I've also driven torque converter Amaze and CVT City and New Amaze. Head nod in this AMT -now- is zero except when there is a super incline and it drops a few cogs.

Only 2 places where it could be better:
1. Rolling on slope - Easy fix with handbrake / left foot on brake (only for this purpose) Hill hold could really fix it
2. Overtaking - Also easy with a quick strong dab on the throttle instead of the gradual one in other autobox, it drops down to 2nd gear or even first. Or the Manual mode.

For just 40-50K you get a good mileage as well as "almost" a proper AT.
No clue about 1.0L 3 cyl engine but I love this AMT with Ignis' 1.2L 4cyl.

Don't think would have bought an Ignis TC or CVT one with 80K-100K more even with this engine.
