Employee at Maruti's Manesar plant tests positive for COVID-19

Quote:
An employee at Maruti Suzuki's Manesar plant has tested positive for COVID-19, according to a company spokesperson.

The company is also looking at "a possibility of a second case" of infection at the facility but has ruled out any impact on the business part due to the situation.

The country's largest carmaker, Maruti Suzuki India (MSI) had re-opened the Manesar facility earlier this month after around 50 days of closure due to coronavirus-led lockdown.

Toyota claims that it will adhere to the directives issued by the state and central governments. The company has come up with a revised set of guidelines for its workforce. It has also issued a 'Restart Manual' with standard operating procedures, which it claims, will ensure the safest possible restart to manufacturing.

According to Toyota, the factory will be operated with limited workforce. Most of the office employees will continue to work from home. The company will ramp up production gradually, only after evaluating the situation.

Over 290 Toyota dealerships and 230 service outlets have also resumed operations.

Re: Govt. could allow carmakers to resume production

I am just wondering whether a smarter solution isn't to permit sale of BS-IV vehicles as a temporary measure for a few more months, say till September or perhaps December. It allows companies and dealers to earn an income and gives companies time to plan for production.

FCA shows 1600+ unsold inventory. When you talk to dealers they say there is no BS4 stock all, zilch. I doubt this report. Same is the case with Maruti. Try getting or enquiring about a Dzire or an Scross BS4 , there is zero stock.

The report does mention that the unsold inventory is not completely BS4. As I am not sure about FCA, Maruti had started manufacturing BS6 vehicles at the end of 2019 itself and hence its likely that the unsold inventory is only BS6 or a very few BS4 vehicles which Maruti Suzuki has already written off per another news posted in our very own forum(https://www.team-bhp.com/news/maruti...h-rs-125-crore). Unless the manufacturers comes up and says that this particular delarership has these many BS4 vehicles at this much discount, its not possible for an average joe to know of their unsold BS4 inventories. So no surprise that our nearest dealership does not have any BS4 in stock. Anyway, even if its in stock now, it would have been already registered under the dealerships name, making you the second owner.
Quote:
Most of the current inventory confirms the stringent Bharat Stage VI with some remnants of the now phased out BS-IV vehicles also left in traces at the dealerships

Re: Govt. could allow carmakers to resume production

Has anyone serviced their car in the last month?. Can you please share the experience?. Is the invoice way higher than what it usually costs? . ( This practice was very common even during pre-covid days. I assume it will be worse now since they need to cover the lost revenue)
My car is due for service, based on time interval. ( Not in terms of kilo meters run. I understand that the rule is whichever comes first) . So just wanted to see how things are.

Re: Govt. could allow carmakers to resume production

With so many states going into lockdown and enhanced restrictions, how has the car buying experience been for someone whose purchased a vehicle for someone who got one during the scenario?

Also, does anyone recommend home delivery of the vehicles based on the experience?
