The Jimny is slated for a 2021 release with a sub 15L price tag. I’d buy one over a defender, wrangler, or thar !
I was quite disheartened when the new prototype was first shown and it has received a lot of flak from the current Defender owners. Every comment on the Youtube videos or Instagram/Facebook posts suggests that people in general are not happy with the new design. For me, it has somewhat redeemed itself after seeing a lot of videos and pictures. It is looking really nice from a few angles and with accessories.
However, saw this article today - "
Land Rover’s Spiritual Leader Makes No Apologies for the Design of the New Defender". Thought of sharing it here.

When it is convenient, set aside about a half-hour and watch this video. I guarantee it'll be worth your while :).
I'm hopelessly in love with this car!
Land Rover have been very clever - people might grumble about the car going upscale but the truth is, if you want a simple basic offroader, you have cars like the Jimny. They've instead gone for the same approach that Toyota did with the LC or Merc with the G-Wagen - take it upscale but retain or improve on the old model's capability. If initial reviews are anything to go by, they've absolutely knocked it out of the park.

Apparently these are the press fleet which was to be used for the staggered launch. From what I gather, JLR have lent out most of the press fleet.

Boy What a car ! Just living up to it's cult image. Hoping to get a test drive some day. :)

Believe me! It would have been the experience! It makes the
Range Rover drive that I did a mere taster. JLR are extremely well organised and meticulous when planning these experiences.
More impressive is the fact that the 7 Defenders went through many rounds of pounding without hiccup
I dont know about this model and I know there will be people who will disagree with me but last year I found the Compass Trailhawk better than Range Rover Evoque in most conditions.
